Walmart.com Keeps Their Eye on Amazon, Allows Third Party Retailers

walmart-evil-2

In a move which suggests that Walmart is planning a full-on merchant battle with Amazon sometime in the future, Walmart.com has announced that a select group of third-party merchants will now be allowed to sell their products through the site.

All in all, this is a great move by Walmart and something potentially something to worry about for Amazon and eBay. The new plan adds over one million new products to Walmart.com’s catalog. Walmart has made it clear though that the third-party merchants, unlike with Amazon, were hand-picked by the Walmart team.

Ed Hardy is Everywhere, Even on Your USB Drives

ed-hardy-usb

There’s been a Don Ed Hardy explosion recently. I’ve even seen Hardy rip-off shoes at my local discount designer stores. If you’ve already got Ed Hardy’s name plastered across your body and you’re really digging that new school ink style, Ed Hardy is busting out a collection of USB drives branding the style you’ve learned to love.

The drives will be available in 1 GB to 4 GB flavors. They’re available for pre-order for between $32 and $78 on Amazon and will likely ship in the coming weeks, probably a month or three at the most.

Deals: $350 Playstation 3 on Amazon

80gbPS3

If you’ve been holding out for a price cut on the PS3, today is your chance to take advantage of Amazon’s PS3 deal. $350 nets you an 80GB system with a DualShock controller. Sorry, no motion control here, folks.

Games? You’ll need to get those on your own, but considering the deals Amazon has on its Marketplace, it shouldn’t be too hard to pick up a couple of classic titles on the cheap.

Amazon Kindling: Burn After Reading

amazonkindling

Perfect for those confidential notes that call for being destroyed right after being read. The Amazon Kindling was created using a laser cutter.

This reminds me of that famous holiday ditty:

Amazon Kindling on an open fire
Jeff Bezos nipping at your nose (but mostly your wallet)

It’s Official: The Amazon Kindle DX

kindle_DX

After all that hype! 9.7-inches of fury with a $489 price tag. Get ready to witness Amazon’s blitzkrieg on the newspaper and textbook industries. Sporting 4GB of storage and native PDF support doesn’t hurt either. Did we mention EVDO? Oh yeah. Very nice. Look for the Kindle DX to drop this summer.

Screenshots of New Amazon Kindle Leak

kindle-dx

While I’m not one to feed the rumors, there’s just too much hype to ignore the upcoming large-screen Kindle from Amazon. Check out these pics of the upcoming “Kindle DX”. It supposedly will have a 9.7-inch display and is geared towards textbook use. I was thinking about the whole textbook strategy and it could really propel Amazon into the stratosphere. Imagine college students carrying around a single Kindle with all their books on it. Such a lifesaver! Let’s wait ’till tomorrow though and see what Amazon is going to do.

Rumor Me Not: Amazon Working On Large-Format Kindle

notakindle

Man, today is all about the rumors floating around and I’m not liking it one bit. Know why? Rumors are all hype, little fact and always disappointing. Take for instance the latest one. The Internet is saying that Amazon is preparing a new Kindle with a large screen for newspapers that will drop this Wednesday. Pretty bold, right? Yeah, it’s bold alright. Bold that you fuckers writing this shit don’t have any solid sources to back it up. Sure, the New York Times is running with it, but the New York Times is nothing more than a bankrupt piece-of-Red-Sox-owning-shit.

And so we’ll see this week if Amazon is bringing another device to the market so soon. My guess? No way. At least not this week or month.

Kindle Case Remembers Everything Amazon Forgot

kindle-2-periscope-case

Though widely acclaimed and highly anticipated, Amazon’s Kindle 2 isn’t perfect by any stretch of the imagination. Much like any awesome gadget, there are tons of ways to improve the user’s experience even further than what is already offered by the gadget alone.

The Periscope Kindle case is a leather-bound case which offers a host of useful little gadgets which will likely improve your e-book experience. For one, there is a neat pop-out book light for illuminating your digital page without causing issues for anyone else who might be trying to sleep. Also included is a pocket for an odd shaped notebook and a pen, just in case you feel like jotting down a note or five.

Amazon Launches Kindle iPhone App

kindleapp1

Wow. That was, like, really quick Mr. Bezos. Nice work.

Amazon decided to make an incredibly smart business decision and today released an iPhone Kindle app that allows you to download books on the go and read them on your iPhone. It’s a much cheaper way to enjoy the Kindle’s unique features on the device you prefer. Oh, and the killer part about all this? Free app. Amazon is playing it smart, knowing that a free app will encourage consumers to purchase some eBooks from the Amazon.com.

Readers rejoice. Your time has come. It’s like a reading rainbow, sans Levar Burton.

Amazon Kindle 2 Has Hidden SIM Card Slot

kindle2sim

We haven’t been talking about the Amazon Kindle 2 a lot. Know why? Because everyone and their mother has been talking about it. Jeff Bezos was even on The Colbert Report shilling his new eBook reader. Interestingly, though, when the boys at iFixIt cracked open a brand new Kindle 2, they found a surprise waiting inside. See that circled area on the PCB? That’s a space for a SIM card. And something tells me, that with a soldering iron, a SIM card holder and some programming, you could turn the Kindle 2 into an entirely new device. Perhaps you could even speed up the downloads of eBooks and digital content.

Any ideas? What do you think that missing SIM slot is for?
