The mission operations team for the LADEE are based at the Ames Research Center in Moffett Field, California. In addition to taking a closer look at the lunar atmosphere, the LADEE will also utilize experimental laser communications in an effort to better communication possibilities between Earth and spacecrafts. If successful, the new communications system will increase throughput by six times versus that of the traditional radio systems.
