UFC 2009 Undisputed Drops Tomorrow

ufc-2009-undisputed

Here’s a game I have to speak up about. I recently downloaded the demo of UFC 2009 Undisputed on PSN. Since then, my roommates and I have not been able to put down the PS3 controllers because this game is really fun. Excellent graphics, huge knockouts and real UFC announcers make playing this title a real pleasure. I love knocking out Maurico “Shogun” Rua out in seconds and come tomorrow, I’ll actually have a real selection of characters to work with.

So yes, get ready to drop $60 + tax tomorrow on yet another video game. I’ll be trading in Killzone 2 for my copy of Undisputed. What about you? Are you getting it? PS3 or 360? We want to know!

Call It: PS3 Outsells Wii in March

ps3

Big in Japan. That’s what the press should be calling the Playstation 3. Seems for the month of March, Nintendo’s fantasy box of magic couldn’t fend off the brute, building strength of Sony’s Playstation 3. According to Reuters, “domestic sales of the PS3 came to 146,948 units in the five weeks through March 29, compared with 99,335 units of the Wii and 43,172 units of Microsoft Corp’s Xbox 360.”

So this isn’t even a war of the hundreds or thousands at this point. The PS3 beat out the Wii by almost a third. With games like Killzone 2 and Prototype, perhaps gamers are starting to pick better games over gimmicky control schemes. Just sayin’!

Afternoon Linkage for March 17th, 2009

It’s worth mentioning that I finally picked up the retail version of Killzone 2. It’s amazing and all, but it’d be even more amazing if we got together for a round of Warzone multiplayer. Add me as a friend on PSN: fusioned

Best Buy Testing Video Game Trade Ins

used_games_

GameStop, with its icy grip on the retail video game industry, has a new competitor coming up the pipelines. No, Funcoland isn’t making a comeback but rather Best Buy is trying out a trial program that lets customers trade in used video games for store credit. As Brian Crecente of Kotaku points out, this is a fantastic time to be in the used video game industry. No kid or adult has $60 to plop down on a next-gen game nowadays, save for Killzone 2.

I think this is a great move for Best Buy. It’ll force GameStop to become more competitive and will lower prices on used titles even further. Let’s see how Best Buy plays this out…

Killzone 2 Is Out Today

killzone2box

Playstation 3 owners, your time has come.

After waiting over 4 years for this amazing technical feat of a game, you can finally walk into a store and purchase Killzone 2. Of course, if you didn’t pre-order at Gamestop, you might as well run to a Target or Toys R Us for a copy. We’ll be picking up our copy this weekend and I’m personally psyched to try out the multiplayer.

Anyway, this has been a public service announcement. As you were.

Want A Killzone 2 Demo Code? Just Ask Sony

killzone2_screenshot_13

Apparently, a lot of people got pissed off about Sony’s little pay-to-play scheme that involved pre-ordering Killzone 2 in order to receive a code for the demo. Yes, the very same codes we gave out the other week. Sony is now trying to save face by offering up a “limited number of downloads” of the demo. The catch is, you’ll have to fire up Playstation Home (ugh) and look for a guy dressed up as a Helghast soldier. Ask him for a code and ye shall receive. This is US-only and the Helghast guy can be found anytime tonight after 9pm EST. Good luck!

Killzone 2 Demo Goes Live

Winners of our contest are probably gearing up right now to download the Killzone 2 demo. They got the codes, I have a code and it just finished installing on my PS3. I am beyond psyched to play it and will report back tomorrow with first impressions.

But until then. The links must go on.
