While developer pinkfroot limited has been using the transportation game as a means to an end for his application development for a while now, we’ve never seen a transportation app quite like this. Plane Finder AR utilizes GPS technology, real-time air traffic mapping and augmented reality to create a whole new transportation experience for those who still have their feet on the ground.
Point your iPhone towards the heavens as a plane passes overhead and a box pops up with the details of the flight, including origin, destination, flight speed, flight number and even the current altitude. Some have showed concern that this could be a potential security risk, but in reality, augmented or not, this is really all common knowledge anyway for anyone with access to the internet. This app makes the information a little easier to obtain and a whole lot more fun to use.
