Tokyo Researchers Can Take Control of Your Hand

The latest bit of research to come out of the University of Tokyo has at least a few people a little bit freaked out. Apparently, some researchers sat down and discovered how to use some hacked hardware devices to actually take complete control over the muscles in your hand. All you have to do is strap on the painless arm-band, and — Voila! Your hand is now able to be completely controlled via electrical impulses.

Of course, this creepy technology has obvious practical applications. It could potentially be used in the development of more advancedprosthetic limbsfor amputees, or allow people suffering from paralysis to move on their own. Hopefully none of the plans for this research involve implanting us with computerized mind-control chips, like in some of those awful/awesome B movies from the early 80’s.
