LED Bonsai tree makes you perceive in 3D

Using custom circuits and a whole bunch of LED bulbs, here is a totally custom product built from scratch, including self-etched boards. The LED Bonsai tree spins a series of bulbs to create the appearance of a, yup, you guessed it, Bonsai tree.

The fast speed of the spinning LEDs creates a 3D image, which either looks like a Bonsai tree, or a bunch of spinning LEDs, depending on how you look at it.

  1. This is undoubtedly cool!

Though it does look a lot like a PCB from Lady Ada’s Spoke POV kit: http://www.ladyada.net/make/spokepov/makeprep.html
…And one would imagine her software would also suffice for programming it

“…totally custom product built from scratch, including self-etched boards” might be a bit of a stretch…? It’s a cool hack, but give credit where credit is due.
