Is iPhone 7 worth the Hype?

With Apple launching yet another iPhone this year, iPhone 7, the company’s latest and best model, the hype has reached altogether another level. With a sleek design and waterproof body, but is the new iPhone really worth the 700$?

The design is similar to iPhone 6s, but the body is water resistant (in a meter of water for up to 30 minutes) and dust proof. So you may not have to worry about dropping your phone in the commode or ruining your phone in the rain. The water proofing is better than that of iPhone 6s, so you save yourself a trip to the apple store where the customer service tells you that the fault is yours (as indicated by the water meter) and hence cannot be covered under warranty. You can probably get better android phones at a cheaper price and with higher water resistance.

The other main feature of the phone is the launch of Airpods, Apple’s completely wireless headphones. They automatically connect with a phone by just putting near it, meaning you don’t have to dig through the Bluetooth menu every day. And, yes, they cost 159$ and if you lose these (which you definitely will), you can’t use any other set of headphones, since iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus don’t come with a headphone jack. All the best!

The next eye catching feature is the camera. Apple has offered dual camera for both the iPhone models- providing an additional secondary optical lens for better quality 2x shots, with no loss of quality when optical and digital zoom are used in combination for 10x magnification. This improvement is excellent while taking low-light shots, eliminating the need to carry a camera every time you are expecting to take some “Instagram” worthy photographs. What do some of the users have to say about the new dual camera improvements- “The 1X still cameras on the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus produced “admirable” image quality, but did not outperform the cameras on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus.”

So, on a whole iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus are great phones, but not exceptionally revolutionary. Apple is best at stirring the hype all over the world, but with Steve Jobs gone, I’m not sure if they are living up to the expectations. Apple needs to be much more than just a brand name, and come up with better features, at affordable prices.
