Are Corporations Taking Advantage Of Our Internet Addiction?

A recent revelation by Time Warner Cable has many geeks wondering if they are being taken advantage of.

For the second time since November, Time Warner Cable has announced that they will be increasing their modem rental fee, this time from $3.95 to $5.99. A move that is likely designed to make up for the sheer number of customers who have now eliminated cable TV from their lives completely, in favor of online programming. According to Time Warner Cable however, the increase in cost is associated with the “cost associated with providing the modem.” Yeah…we’re not buying it either. If you ask us, corporations like Time Warner Cable are taking advantage of our dependence on the internet and our desire to not pay $70 a month for TV programming.
