Yesterday, iPad owners finally got a glimmer of hope that they could ditch the clunky version of iPhone video chat software that’s currently being used on the iPad. For a short time, Skype was available in the App store.
However, their excitement was short-lived. After only being available for several minutes, the Skype app was pulled. The Skype twitter feed fell silent — with no one knowing if (or when) Skype would return to the iPad.
Ten hours later (what were they doing for those ten hours?), Skype returned to the App store, accompanied by an official announcement. Thankfully, it’s still there — at least for now.
Skype is free, though it does require iOS4 or higher to run on the iPad.
