Dennis The Menace Needs No Slingshot

ringshot

The Ringshot is a play on traditional slingshots without the need to hold it in your hand. It is a metal piece that conforms between the index finger and thumb, with a rubber band attached at each end. It’s portable and much easier to conceal for those covert missions in which you really want to shoot chestnuts at your asshole neighbor.

No word on whether or not it can be purchased. The materials to make one sure aren’t scarce, so you could always try building your own. And if making one doesn’t sound appealing you could always go out and buy a tequila gun to shoot your enemies in the eye with lemon juice.

Mike Rea is good with wood and he wants to show you he’s the master by crafting giant suits straight out of the Mechwarrior games. Shaped like Optimus Prime and labeled “Suit for Steven Hawking,” this giant wooden mech is one of many of his works you can find at his website. He has even made a replica Arc of the Covenant with fluorescent lights on the inside to complete that glowing look. Just like in Indiana Jones!

The Overpriced Way To Leave Mom and Coworkers Notes

taskwatch

The TaskWatch is an glorified dry erase board with an analog clock. While the home-based TaskWatch has a complete round dial, the TaskWatch designed for office use is of the 9-to-6 variety. It’s a helpful tool for leaving coworkers messages like, “Where’d the last donut go?” or “Who shit in the water cooler?”

The combination of a clock and dry erase board brings a whole new element of time-management and communication in the work environment. One can only hope they aren’t actually charging $202.70 as the link suggests. Included are marker racks, marker, magnets, and cleaner, which couldn’t be more than $100 in materials. On a budget? Try going with the perpetual calender instead. It’s cheaper and looks way cooler.

Sorry Prepubescent 20-Year Olds, No Smoke Break For You

vendingmachines

A Japanese company called Fujitaka has introduced a “Child Check System” for cigarette vending machines that uses facial recognition. It then compares the face with 100,000 faces in the vending machines database after taking a digital photograph of the consumer.

The legal smoking age in Japan is 20, so if you just so happen to be a 13-year old looking 20 year-old man, you’re shit out of luck. And if you’re a 20-year old who looks like a 13-year old, you get to cheat the system.

New Proporta iPod Shuffle Cases get the job done

proporta ipod shuffe caseWhile dropping your new minescule iPod Shuffle won’t break a hard drive platter as dropping an iPod v5 would, damage is still a very possible occurrence. Proporta’s new line of iPod Shuffle cases solve this problem with a casing material of your choice (steel, silicone, or crystal). While all three designs protect the front and back of your Shuffle, only the silicone model also protects your click wheel. One downside to any silicone case you might buy is that it collects dust more than any other material cases are made out of. The Steel case is the sturdiest, and because it is metal, it features a thin layer of padding so as not to scratch the precious Shuffle you are trying so dearly to protect.

iPod dock in new Apple keyboard?

apple keyboardEveryone’s favorite Apple rumor site, ThinkSecret, is claiming that Apple is prepping a new USB keyboard with a built-in iPod dock. Of course, the sources were unable to see the keyboard, but they heard of it being spotted in the wild by customers who sent their keyboards to Apple for replacement. Though the number of keyboards is supposedly less than ten, it is believed that they have been taken back by Apple. Though it seems far-fetched, Apple did force customers who received the replacements for their G4 Cube systems to sign non-disclosure agreements. But I mean come on, this is a keyboard. ThinkSecret believes that this peripheral should be expected around MacWorld, as well as the iPhone, but have a USB peripheral does go against Apple’s new bluetooth accessories. — Zach Wilt
