Reasons why Facebook Messages sent, but not Delivered

One of the leading social media sites, Facebook, has been connecting people worldwide for several years. The beginning of Facebook was pretty simple when we only could post on our walls and communicate with others. But, with time, Facebook has developed massively. Now, Facebook has a separate Messenger app, where you can send private messages, images, gifs, or voice clips to a particular individual, or even create groups to interact with many, at the same time. But, many a time, people face specific problems regarding Facebook messages sent, but not delivered. Here are the reasons why even after sending messages on Facebook, they won’t get delivered.

Why won’t Facebook Messages get delivered?

Many people face problems related to messages not getting delivered on Facebook. If you are going through a similar scenario, then here is a list of reasons behind it:

Internet Connectivity Issue

If you access the Internet through a Wi-Fi connection or even a mobile data connection, you might face problem in the connectivity service, which leads to messages not getting delivered. Try to check your internet connection before sending a message on Facebook.

The receiver is not on your Friend list

Many times, we send messages to people on Facebook who are not on our friend list yet. Then, our messages don’t reach the inbox of the receiver directly. Firstly, they need to accept the message request, and only then will your message reach the receiver.

Receiver read the message through Notification Box

If the receiver reads your message from the Notification bar, you won’t get the blue tick. The blue tick marks the status of the message as being delivered and seen. If the receiver doesn’t open the chatbox, you won’t receive the blue tick.

Receiver ignores the message

If the receiver chooses to ignore your message, you won’t receive a blue tick. The message might get delivered on the receiver’s inbox. But, it entirely depends on them if they would like to open the message, or not.

The receiver doesn’t open your message

The receiver might overlook your message, and hence, the message stays unread. If the receiver doesn’t open the chatbox and read through it, your message would not get marked with the blue tick.

The receiver uses Facebook, but not Messenger

Most people install the Facebook app only. If the receiver doesn’t install a Messenger app, and only uses Facebook through the app, they won’t know about your message. Only a person who uses both the apps, Facebook and Messenger, can get notifications about the messages received.

Receiver marked your message as spam

If the receiver has marked your messages as spam, or reported you on Facebook, you won’t be able to send any message to the particular person. Hence, your messages would get sent but not delivered.

The receiver has blocked you on Messenger

If the receiver blocks you on Messenger, while you are still in the middle of a conversation, you might not get notified at the exact time. You might get to send one or two messages until you are blocked to send any. But, your messages won’t reach the receiver. You won’t be able to have any further conversation until the receiver unblocks you.

How can you Fix the Problem?

There are multiple ways by which you can try fixing the problem. Let’s find out how:

Use desktop for Facebook

The easiest way to access the entire application of Facebook is through a desktop. If you use your desktop and login through one of the browsers, you would be able to look through the posts and find out who is online. It would be simple for you to open the chatbox and send messages to the people available, then.

Interact with Online People

To receive a quicker reply, you need to send messages to online people, at the same time as you are. It might take some time if you are trying to reach out to people who stay offline for most of the day. It is better to interact with people who remain active throughout the day.

Fix the Internet Connection

If your messages are not getting delivered for quite some time, then you need to check your Wi-Fi connection or mobile data connection. If you don’t have a properly working internet connection, your messages won’t get delivered until you fix the connectivity issue.

Update the App

Facebook and Messenger need a regular update to work correctly. This is extremely crucial if you wish to access both the apps frequently. You need to check; if your apps are not updated, you need to update them.

Restart the App

If you are facing problems always, you can restart the Messenger app once. Once you restart the app, you have to check if the messages are getting delivered. If not, you need to follow the other steps mentioned here.

Log Out of the App

If the problem persists, you can log out of the Messenger app, and log in again after a while. Sometimes, Facebook goes through some glitch in the apps, which leads to temporary inaccessibility to messages or posts.

Use Proper Apps

Most people prefer using Lite Apps such as Facebook Lite, or Messenger Lite, to save storage on mobile phones. But, most of the time, the applications on Lite Apps don’t work correctly. Try to use proper Messenger apps, or even better, use Facebook through browsers to have complete access to the inbox.

It might become a problem to not see your messages getting delivered, even after sending them. In my view, it is better to go through the ways you can fix the problem. If you still face the question, again and again, you can go to the Facebook Help Center and notify Facebook regarding the issues you are facing. Also, let them know the ways you have tried to resolve the problem. Hopefully, Facebook would look into the matter and fix the issue as soon as possible.
