Paycom Employees Marked Women’s History Month with $50000 Donation to Oklahoma Women in Technology

March is Women’s History Month, and Paycom celebrated in a big way by donating $50,000 to Oklahoma Women in Technology (OKWIT) through its monthly employee giving program. OKWIT is a volunteer-run nonprofit organization of professionals in the tech industry that aims to bridge the gender gap in STEM fields by networking, promoting anyone who identifies as a woman and encouraging young women to pursue their interests and studies in STEM fields.

Since starting in 2016, OKWIT has awarded $30,000 in scholarships to women striving toward undergraduate and graduate degrees. These annual scholarships aim to reduce financial barriers and support women in their educational journey.

In 2023, Paycom also funded an OKWIT scholarship for a female high school student pursuing a STEM career. Building on this commitment, Paycom’s latest contribution will expand opportunities for young women in Oklahoma through scholarships, retreats and initiatives fostering leadership and development in STEM careers across the state.

“OKWIT is a volunteer-driven organization dedicated to supporting women in STEM through scholarships, educational programs and professional development opportunities,” said Alli Rodgers, president of Oklahoma Women in Technology. “We rely solely on the generosity of donors like Paycom to make our mission a reality.”

Rachael Gannon, executive vice president of product at Paycom, expressed her excitement to support a cause that helps other Oklahoma women working in STEM fields. “This donation represents our employee’s commitment to empower women in the workforce by providing access to resources.” Gannon, a single mother who has worked her way from entry level to executive level at Paycom, is inspired to help other women who may not feel supported at work. “We are actively working toward shifting the unfortunate statistic that women make up only a third of the STEM workforce in the United States.”

Paycom’s dedication to empowering women is clear, with almost half of its workforce being female and over half holding mid-level leadership positions. The company offers numerous benefits tailored to women and families, such as discounted childcare partnerships, designated nursing rooms in its offices, generous parental leave and support services for employees managing pregnancy, adoption, postpartum challenges and beyond.

Paycom selects a wide range of nonprofits connected to national awareness months every year so employees can donate through Paycom to an organization that’s close to their heart..

Other recent charitable contributions Paycom made in support of STEM education include:

  • $65,000 to the Hawaii STEM Learning Partnership, an initiative by the Hawaii Community Foundation to enhance STEM education for students on Hawaiian islands.
  • $25,000 to the FIRST® Robotics Competition and First Down initiative, Oklahoma’s regional robotics event promoting innovation and hands-on STEM experiences for youth.
  • $15,000 to the EXPO Center Clubhouse, an after-school STEM program in Los Angeles targeting underserved communities.
