Mio Goes 3D For GPS, Really

mio_c620_1.jpg

A GPS is a GPS is a GPS. Most GPS devices are seemingly carbon copies of each previous one. Mio plans to change the 2D road schematics of in-car GPS platforms and add in a 3D twist, featuring topographic maps and 3D displays of landmarks.

The new Mio C620 and C620T devices both offer a 4.3 inch display, based around the guiding force of the SiRFStar III GPS chip. In fact, both devices are exactly the same except for the addition of Traffic Message Channel support in the C620T. The cool 3D maps really add in a dose of human perspective to the whole GPS concept, rather than the feeling of looking at one of those maps you can pick up at a gas station, but with a voice. Really a cool idea.
