Great Ways to Sell Used MacBooks

Macbook

Your Mac has lived its best life, it is old, or you simply want to get something new and recent. No matter what your reason, you are here because you want to sell your Mac.

Here are a few ways you can go about the process. To me, these are some of the best options to get a great value, to make the transaction easily, and you replace your Mac quickly.

Sell it to someone you know

Many people want to buy a Mac, and second-hand is the way to go for a lot of them. When you decide to sell yours, ask around, see if any of your friends, family, or acquaintances want to buy it from you. This is one of the most hassle-free ways to go about it. Let them know about the condition of your Mac down to the T, this helps prevent hurt feelings later.

The one downside of it is that you have to be ready for some post-sale support. If they are a first time Mac user, then they are constantly going to be coming to you for tech support.

Trade your Mac in with Apple GiveBack

You can trade your Mac with Apple for their Renew and Recycling program. If you are in the United States, this is one of the best options. If your device is eligible, you will get an Apple gift card with the amount tacked to it. If it is not, it will be recycled.

The upside is that it is secure and you get an Apple gift card that can be used with your next purchase. The downside is that you might not get as much as you would have if you sold it to someone else.

Used Mac Services

There are businesses like MacBack and others that will buy your used MacBook. What they do is that they buy it from you, and then they resell it, or they sell it wholesale to a used computer dealer.

This can be a great option but again will not get you as much as selling it to someone else, it can be an easier alternative though.

Freecycle

Freecycle is wordplay for recycling and free stuff. If you find that your MacBook is too old and isn’t going away with any of the above-mentioned ways, then giving it away for free is the best way to clear out your shelf. You can list it on Freecycle and give it to someone for free.

You can do the same on FaceBook Marketplace as well. There are tons of people who put up things for free, just to clear their space out.

After all, it is said that, one man’s trash is another man’s treasure.

Whether you decide to sell it to someone you know, a stranger, a business, or you decide to give it away for free; keep your eyes open to make the right decision. Check your Mac to be sure of leaving nothing personal on it, and also log out of all the accounts, factory reset it, and then part with it.
