If you play video games long enough, you have a highly increased chance to have a seizure. Researchers from the Interuniversity Microelectronics Centre in Belgium have developed a new “portable electroencephalogram”, pretty much short for self-powered Brainwave Headphones, which can monitor brainwaves, providing an early monitor system for epilepsy, and possibly be used for gaming purposes in the future.
The headphones are powered by using “thermoelectric materials which turn heat gradients into electrical energy, using the difference between a warm human head and the cooler surrounding air.” So there is no need for batteries. The headphones monitor brainwaves and can transmit the waves to a computer via WiFi. — Andrew Dobrow
