An iPhone Hater’s Cry for Help

Apparently an Apple a day doesn’t keep the psychiatrist away.
Fight the power! Damn tech corporations trying to brainwash us with their awesome Wolfenstein and Metal Gear Solid games.

With all the announcements at WWDC yesterday, it’s understandable that some information was overlooked. But now that WWDC’s keynote has come and gone, it’s time to analyze and pick apart every last thing Apple mentioned. Apparently, I overlooked the new 13-inch Macbook Pro! Here’s what people around the web are discussing:
One of the shittier things I noticed on the bottom of the Mac OS X Snow Leopard page was that Snow Leopard will require an Intel-based Mac. That sucks for people like me who still use a G5-based machine. Oh well. That’s what my Macbook is for.

So. Today was Apple’s WWDC keynote. Phil Schiller delivered it without Jobs. Let’s cut the commentary bullshit out and go straight to the announcements:
iPhone 3GS announced – faster 3G, faster processor, 3-megapixel camera – $199 for 16GB, $299 for a 32GB model. Drops June 19th. 15-inch Macbook Pro line gets SD card slot, built-in battery Snow Leopard – $29 to upgrade (WOW!) for existing users, $49 family pack, countless UI upgrades, Quicktime X with better editing features, faster, lightweight, concentration on 64-bit apps TomTom app for GPS. Additional car kit available soon iPhone OS 3.0 coming soon – free update, features MMS, copy and paste and everything previously discussed iPhone tethering for everyone except AT&T customers, which is bullshit P2P file transfer with iPhones
That’s the essentially all the big stuff that got announced today. If you want to know every last goddamned detail, hit up the boys at Gizmodo for their play-by-play.

TGR created this awesome rumor round-up chart for the rumored upcoming third generation iPhone (full-size here). The new iPhone will likely be revealed at WWDC or a special Apple event.
Which of these features do you see becoming a reality, come the official unveiling?

With June right around the corner, people are starting to place their bets on the latest Apple rumors. WWDC will no doubt be the catalyst for launching a new product, but what will it be? A lot of people seem to think a new, 32GB iPhone, including John Gruber, the blogger over at Daring Fireball. He’s posted a long, tyrannical rant on coding, Apple and wagers. Give it a read. You’ll feel more informed and will sleep easier at night.

This year’s Worldwide Developers Conference was a blast of Apple goodness with some long-awaited announcements. For over a decade, Apple has been showcasing new software and technologies for developers at WWDC. This was the first year that the WWDC has sold out, making it the largest one to date. Tons of iPhone/OS X/MobileMe news was unleashed by Steve Jobs himself and like years past, this year’s WWDC had spectators jumping out of their seats in hysteria.

WWDC was pretty overwhelming, but don’t let that stop you from drooling over the new 3G iPhone. Apple’s site is screwed up from all the traffic it’s getting, so here’s a bunch of iPhone 3G-related pics to keep you happy. Don’t even think of hitting up the online Apple Store – it’s gonna be borked for awhile. I’d imagine July 10th will have all the fanboys lined up outside stores, waiting for their precious $199 iPhone.

Hey everyone! Trying to avoid WWDC today would be like a leper trying not to itch his arms – it’s impossible. So while it’s 100 degrees outside, we’re going to stay cool and keep you updated with what’s happening at the Moscone Center. Ryan and I will keep informed with over twenty different news sources, bringing the latest updates right to Gearfuse. We doubt the site will crash or anything like that, but if it does, we’ll be back. Keep refreshing this post for the latest updates on WWDC ‘08. Hit the jump to dive right in!

In lieu of the recent plethora of Apple and Mac related rumors, here’s a cool little web rumor mill. We spotted this really funny rumor generator while sifting through the Internet plankton. The Apple Rumor Generator takes a series of Apple derived words, and generates a rumor for the occasion. Here are some of the rumors we’ve created:
A confirmed source has advised us to expect a 8 Core Mac Mini or Flash based iPod in the NAB 2007
An operative deep inside Apple has advised us to expect a 16 Core Mac Pro or Wifi Enabled iPod Shuffle in the NAB 2007
Our Apple informant has given us this exclusive news about a 16 Core Macbook Pro no later than Fourth Quarter 2007
An Anonymous tipster has confirmed earlier reports that we will see a Sub iMac at WWDC 2007
One of our spies has advised us to expect a Redesigned Macbook in the Second Quarter 2007
Mmm…randomness. — Andrew Dobrow
