Disembodied Hand Prevents Wrist Fatigue

Even on Halloween, when you’re all hopped up on candy, using a mouse can be tiring. For the people who don’t use a vocally controlled mouse, you’re going to need a place to rest your hand. Good thing ThinkGeek is selling this foam wrist-rest that’s shaped like a disembodied hand. It’s perfect for October. $9.99 isn’t a bad price for either a wrist-rest or Halloween decoration. This hand doubles as both!

An iPod Replacement Over The Horizon?

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak has recently admitted that the iPod’s popularity is dwindling. It’s the nature of the beast. Just like the Sony Walkman, at first, everyone wants one. This leads to successful sales and then, they end up on display everywhere at a discounted price, which leads to no one purchasing them. The question on everyone’s mind is: what’s next for Apple?

The higher-ups at Apple leaked just a tidbit of what to possibly expect in the future. Enter the iWatch, a possible investment and future gadget from Apple that will probably act like a cellphone and MP3 player. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see what really is up Apple’s sleeve for next year.

The Watch That’s Sure To Get You Some Octopussy

There’s a million watches out there that’ll make you look like James Bond but few of them feature cellphone functionality. With this phone, you’re getting all the luxuries of a decked out cellphone jam-packed in the comfort of a watch. If you’re not loving the wrist action, this watch can also be worn around the neck, though that’s not very Bond-like.

With 1GB of internal memory, full Bluetooth support, a digital video and audio recorder, organizer, multi-function calculator, alarm clock and pretty much everything else offered in a standard cell phone is included with this watch for $141.88. Everything that is, except for the ladies. When you’re Bond, you’ve got to earn ‘em.

Negative: The Latest From TokyoFlash

We can never get enough of these TokyoFlash watches. The company is notorious for making watches that are nearly impossible to read, such as the Infection or the Eleeno E3.  Thankfully, it’s newest creation, the Negative, is actually readable.

That’s because it presents the time normally, except what makes this watch special is its display of time in negative space.  Highlighted surrounding squares define the unlit squares on the screen which display the time digitally.  It comes in black or silver and on top of that, each watch is capable of switching between seven different colors. That’s a different color for each day in the week! Additionally, the watch has a vertical or horizontal display option, several alarm functions, 12/24 hour mode and multi-color mode, which randomly sends the watch on a fritz as it switches among all seven of its available colors. For $160 dollars, this watch is a bargain as it’s as cool as they come (digitally) and will make you stand out during a nightly gathering.

This Watch Costs More Than My Life

These days, watches aren’t confusing enough. We’ve got the Caterpillar watch, which rotates around your wrist while displaying the appropriate time. Weird, but not confusing. Then there are watches which display time in binary. Dorky, but not confusing. I’m looking for a watch that is as confusing as it is expensive. The kind of watch I wouldn’t trade any sports car in the world for the confusion it brings upon me whenever I refer to it for time.

Enter the Hysek “Colosso” wrist watch. This convoluted mess of small parts and pieces features a three dimensional globe at the top which is used as a visual display which can be set on either local or GMT time.  For $550,000, you can either put your kids through college or get a watch. Your choice.

Caterpillar Watch Thinks It’s A Bulldozer

The standard wristwatch hasn’t changed much in the past few centuries. Design student Nicolas Lehotzky was tired of the vanilla-looking watches of the 21st century. Instead, he has designed three prototype wristwatches to reflect the brand and product values of Caterpillar, Brembo and SRAM.

Most notably is his Caterpillar model which is directly inspired by a bulldozer track and extends it into a faceless watch with a fabric belt. The numbers on it slowly rotate around the entire wrist, with the current hour presented on an elevated platform.  We’ve dubbed it, the “Indian-burn” watch. Guaranteed to leave your wrist sore and blistering.

Urwerk’s New Sexy 202 Hammerhead Automatic Watch Runs With Turbines

Urwerk took their opportunity at SIHH 2008 to unveil their new 202 Hammerhead Automatic wrist watch which has a innovative new winding rate which is geared with fluid dynamics. For over a century, watch makers were playing around with watches powered with air friction, aided by a traditional rotating vane, much more reliable then the old sand-powered hour glass.

The 202 Hammerhead replaces the traditional vane with two mini-turbines which act as mini air compressors. These turbines give the sexy Hammerhead a dynamic flair, as you can watch them move on the rear of the watches face. And oh yeah, it looks really sexy.
