The Phone That Gives You Wood

Hyun Jin Yoon and Eun Hak Lee have designed this jagged edged wooden phone dubbed the Maple Phone. It’s made up of African Blackwood and sports some of the latest features you’d find in any cellphone to date. An MP3 player, digital camera and the basic functions like calling and SMS are all incorporated into this wooden phone that’ll have every hippy bitching about the preservation of woodlands in America.

Though it doesn’t display your mood like the FuChat, this unique handset has a display that is placed at the back, revealing itself as you slide the handset. It isn’t until you touch the wood (ha, touch the wood!), that the phone shows it’s true form and screen display. No word on a release date or if the phone will be as cheap as the HOP1800, but you can bet Frodo will be showing this phone to all his hobbit buddies in the shire.

Rollercoaster For Bikes, Sign Waver Prior To Riding

Think you’re hardcore? Think again.  Swedish artist and designer Anders Jakobsen aka Lagombra has created a bicycle rollercoaster for the MU Art Foundation in Eindhoven. Made up of raw wood and scaffolding the coaster is reminiscent of a series of toppled dominoes. The tracks highest peak nearly hits two meters and dares riders to risk their necks for nothing more than a head rush.

According to the MU’s director, only one cyclist was skilled enough to be able to complete a circuit.  Everyone else who has daringly attempted to ride the coaster did nothing more than introduce their face to the dirt.

Let Your Lady Friends Know, You’re No Shovenist

The female form is the most attractive in nature,” says Dutch sculptor Mario Philippona. We couldn’t agree more. After all, no one wants a sculpture of a man’s flaccid genitals decorating their home. Instead, why not a coffee table with a woman’s legs and curvy rear-end at each corner?  That’s what Mario’s been sculpting, erotic home decor inspired by a woman’s figure.  He even crafted a fruit bowl inspired by women’s breasts dubbed “Tittyfruity.”

The table lets all your friends know you aren’t a switch hitter and it lets all of your lady guests know you’re perverted. Hey, at least they won’t think you’re a misogynistic asshole.

Vertibral Seating, Table And Storage Emulates Bone Structure

Joseph Keenan was sick and tired of run-of-the-mill furniture in his household. So, he designed versatile and flexible wooden boxes that can be connected or stacked on one another to create any number of furnishing goods called Vertibral, en light of the vertebrae. You know, that long series of bones on your back that helps you with pretty much anything you’ve ever done in your entire life, including living.

Individual box pieces are fashioned with stainless steel hinges which aid in the wood’s ability to expand or “sprawl out”. Then the pieces are able to flex to expand their dimension and design. Intertwine ‘em, stack ‘em, throw ‘em together in whatever way you see fit. Just don’t let any fatties sit on the new chair you’ve made.

Wood Digital Scale

In a darker period of my life, I was always trying to bone fat chicks. As outlandish as the claim may seem, I swear that I just could not keep my hands off these bitches like an Italian to pizza dough. It was bad. However, I always kept a certain level of standards that I followed dilligently:

1. Fatties must be under 300 pounds.

2. Must have a vagina.

Thanks to my rigorous standards and this beautiful, hand-crafted (my ass) wooden scale, I was able to weigh fatties in quicker than a New Jersey truck stop. At $60, the scale not only looked great but was also easily replaced when a bitch lied and told me she was 150. She ended up being 459 pounds and sometimes ballooning to 478 after buckets of KFC. I’m so ashamed.

DIY: Wooden Nixie Clock Kit On Ebay

nixieclockkit

Nixie clocks possess the subtlety of simplicity as well as a retro run-down look. The finished project looks fantastic but good luck trying to make it look like the picture.  If you aren’t interested in assembling electronics, then there’s nothing simple about this DIY.

For $150, you can have this 115-part set of tubes and socket pins sent to you disassembled.  You’ll also have to purchase an AC adapter to power the clock, as it is not provided for you. The kit comes with a detailed 20-page user instruction guide to help with the assembly. I’m sure it’ll impress your Grandmother.

Laser-Etched Deck = Great For Show

laseretcheddeck2

Lots of cool skateboard designs pop-up on the web, but these laser-etched skateboard decks are some of the coolest we’ve seen yet. Would you get one of these to ride it or would you just hang it on a wall and frame it? This is one piece of art deserving admiration towards its creativity at every glance. After the jump, some of our favorites: (more…)

Optimus Prime Meets Aliens Cargo Mech

woodmech

Mike Rea is good with wood and he wants to show you he’s the master by crafting giant suits straight out of the Mechwarrior games. Shaped like Optimus Prime and labeled “Suit for Steven Hawking,” this giant wooden mech is one of many of his works you can find at his website. He has even made a replica Arc of the Covenant with fluorescent lights on the inside to complete that glowing look. Just like in Indiana Jones!

Dice-sized wooden speaker

woodspeaker.jpg
We don’t know who came out with the concept, but the idea of a miniature wooden speak does sound cool. And having it so small that it’s almost comparable to a dice (19×26x39mm). Korean company Funshop kr has started selling this I.dear Wood Speaker that is so small that it can be used as an accessory (charm) for your cellphone. It feeds music via standard 3.5mm jack, the internal recharagable (via USB) Li-Polymer battery is good for 5 hours of music at 1.5W, which is comparable to some cheaper portable speakers. While we have no idea how will this match up with our super loud SonyEricsson phones, the 25USD price-tag surely looks attractive. –Sam Chan
