Apple Warns Retail Stores of Limited iMac and Mac Mini Inventory; Upgrades Imminent

steve_jobs

Sources are reporting that Apple has sent a memo out to their retail stores across the U.S. stating that “further orders for many of its existing desktop SKUs would go unhonored and that stores should not expect those models to be restocked.”

In other words, we definitely should be seeing some new Apple desktop computers in the coming weeks, potentially days. The same memo states the Amazon has run out of all configurations of the current iMac and Mac Mini models. We’ll keep you updated as we hear more. In preparation for the upgrades, Apple has released this photo of Steve Jobs preparing to thrust your skull as you furiously give his company head.

Microsoft Planning Zune Upgrade Program

zune

Hey! You! Yes! All five of you! Come here. I have some good news for you. So remember when you guys all went and bought 30GB Zunes awhile back? Well I know they’re out of warranty now and all, but I just got this great tip from a friend. It seems Microsoft is going to let you trade in that old, defunct Zune for a newer 120GB, 80GB, 16GB or 8GB version. Prices will vary but you’ll receive a significant discount by trading in your old unit. The five of you Zune owners should grab a beer together and celebrate.

Upgraded Xbox 360 is confirmed by Microsoft, rumors abound

upgraded xbox 360

An upgraded Xbox 360? Could it be true? Not right now says Microsoft. They have come out in the public stating that while this picture does confirm that there are upgraded Xbox 360s out there, Microsoft knows all about them. They will not be released to the public, Microsoft has said. Among the upgrades that these systems have are a cooler 65nm processor that should reduce noise, a 120GB hard drive, and an HDMI port for complete 1080p resolution.

“We’re always working on prototypes and new technologies and just playing with stuff in Redmond to see what’s interesting. … At the moment, everything you might have seen is just looking at our experimentation back in Redmond, not really a product that we’re thinking about announcing.”

–Chris Satchell

Prototypes and new technologies? That’s just code for “crap, they found out about those new Xbox 360s we were trying to keep secret… How does Steve Jobs keep all of his stuff in the dark?” While that question is still unknown, Microsoft might be trying to do some minor damage control and rumor taming at the moment. After the Xbox 360s amazing holiday sales, they really need to do something to keep consumers interested. Gears of War won’t sell forever. An upgraded 360 might just do the trick. — Nik Gomez
