Live in pixelated New York, use T-Mobile and own a UMTS-enabled device unlike your dinky F1 phone? Starting tomorrow, Big-T is rolling out its long overdue 3G network in the US. NYC is the first city to get it and as you can read on this employee e-mail sent to T-Mobile stores across the US. Bitchin’ data transfer speeds, bitchin’ reception. This is the T-Mobile you’ll know as of tomorrow.

Other cities due for a 3G rollout? Austin, Las Vegas, Minneapolis and Miami all make the cut, though no specific dates are given.

Two months ago we saw a design mock-up of a funny swivel phone from Nokia, the tension built up when a source showed us a leaked marketing picture. This was proven to be legit at the company’s announcement this morning, and as we were told, the funky device in the early pictures was indeed the Nokia 5700 XpressMusic phone.

What we do know now is that the phone will run a Symbian S60 OS with a revamped music interface; the dedicated audio chip, support for up to 2GB MicroSD cards and the reasonably good 2 megapixels camera would make this a fairly capable mid-range multimedia UMTS phone. Shipment is due in the 2nd quarter this year, suggested retail price is 350Euro or 460USD. –Sam Chan

With 3GSM coming up all major phone manufacturers have great products under their sleeves, earlier we wrote about Samsung’s super thin phones, now we have Nokia’s next swivel-music phone. Supposedly this phone will be on the 5000 series, some claimed that it’s going to be a combination of 5500 and 3250, with a swivel design. It is also rumored that this phone might support UMTS in Europe as well as the US (so something like triband GSM plus triband UMTS). We’ll keep you guys updated once we hear more. — Sam Chan
