Just When You Thought USB Drives Were Safe…

swanusbdrive1

We were just starting to believe that USB drive designers were finally starting to lay off the gaudiness. And then we see something like this. I swear, if it wasn’t my habit to wear sunglasses indoors at all times, I would have been blinded by this thing.

If you happen to be into layers and layers of crystals or wearing ridiculous gadgets around your neck, this USB Swan necklace thing (I hesitate to even call it a gadget, as to not taint the word) can be yours for $27.

Easy DIY: Cardboard iPod Speaker/Stand

Here’s a decent mod, albeit not a beautiful one. Take an iPod Touch and strap a cardboard box to the back with a ghetto speaker inside it. Poke out a few holes, wire up a headphone jack and boom, instant portable speaker. It also does a decent job of keeping the iPod upright. Genius? No, but the ability to blast “Crank Dat Batman” at the wee hours of the morning makes it all the better. I have to admit, though, I’ve seen better.

Five Keyboards Beaten With The Ugly Stick

The crew over at InventorSpot decided to name five keyboards they thought were beat up with an ugly stick. We’re talking about keyboards you wouldn’t be caught dead with on your desk. And after checking out all five, we can see why. The Hello Kitty keyboard reminds me of AIDS mixed with a pile of bile and pink frosting. And the Luxeed keyboard? Please. It looks like a lava lamp threw up all over it and it costs an absurd $127.00 to boot! You won’t find anything beautiful like the Optimus Maximus here.Hit the link below to check out the full list. That is, if your stomach can handle it.

DIY: Ugly Yagi WiFi Antenna

If you want your friends to think you’re a cheap bastard (and you know you are) and want to give your laptop the WiFi capabilities it so desperately needs, Ublog has a step-by-step DIY tutorial to make a simple and cheap Yagi antenna. Who would’ve though a piece of wood and a series of rods were all the components you need for some hot wireless action.

The antenna is a retro-looking thing, so finding the right direction to point it towards for it to work effectively could pose some problems. If you’re still not getting a signal, wrap it in aluminum foil. Unlike other antennae, you’ll have WiFi but you’ll still feel like you’re adjusting the antenna of a ’60’s TV.

Ugliest Nintendo DS Mods – EVER!

uglydsmods.jpg

These Nintendo DS design mods more closely resemble a knick knack you’d find gathering dust in your grandmother’s attic than a gaming console. If the people over at King Deco were itching to create the “least likely to be used” gaming consoles, they have succeeded with full honors!

In order to rock these hideous creations, you have to ship your own personal DS to King Deco and trust these people handling your precious console. Supposedly, they actually charge to have this done. I mean, come on!

The first one I could live with. Now as far as the other three monstrosities? *shudder*
