Motorola, Red team up to make MP3 bike helmet

redaudex.jpg

Bluetooth is used to enhance many things. Bike riding is a new one to us. Motorola has teamed up with Red to produce a Bluetooth-enabled bicycle helmet for safe and practical music listening while you exercise. Motorola integrates their Audex system into one of Red’s head protectors to allow for a safer bike riding soundtrack. You can even use them for skateboarding or snowboarding.

The helmet can also be configured to be used with controller gloves that can change the track and control other features you might need to alter. This helmet is definitely fully loaded as you can answer calls wirelessly while you’re riding. The Motorola Audex system also insures you a surround-sound audio quality while you’re out and about. Pretty nifty! And we don’t use the word nifty for just anything. — Andrew Dobrow

Sound Stage X1: Home theater TV stand for the lazy man

Everything is being produced and sold in such compact packages now. It’s truly the time of the mash-up, as the Evesham Sound Stage X1 proves. It’s hard to tell whether this TV stand / home theater hybrid was made as a cool gadget or a device for people to lazy to get off their asses. Possibly both reasons apply.

The Sound Stage X1 is a stand which packs in the complete home theater studio system into its design. Included in the X1 is a 50W subwoofer and 8 satellite speakers. A amplifier and sound processor are included for sound clarity. Does it make us popcorn too?

The X1 uses your walls to bounce sound around for a surround sound experience acheived by other high-end theater systems. We are skeptical to believe the quality is as good as others and if you happen to be very picky about your sound, you’re almost suer to notice a difference.

The stand is available for £299.98. TV not included of course. — Andrew Dobrow

Plug & Enjoy Speakers, surround sound made easy

plug enjoy speakers

If you’ve been wanting some nice surround sound to add to your pad, but don’t have the thousands of dollars it takes to shell out for audiophile speakers, this design makes surround sound as easy as…well…plug & enjoy. These little speakers pick up a FM signal emitted from your audio source (stereo, iPod, podcasts). When the music is pumpin’, you just turn the front of these little speakers, which acts as a radio knob, and literately tune in to your own audio station. Once the station is found, a LED indicator light turns green. Once this happens, wait a few seconds, until the LED changes to red, and now the knob is a volume dial. No more blowing out your speakers to assure everyone hears the music! — Andrew Dobrow
