Super Mario Power Up! Energy Drink Makes You Crash Harder Than Luigi On A Bender

Here is proof that no consumer sector is safe from the invasion of Super Mario Bros. merchandise. The new Super Mario Power Up! Energy Drink gives you a 1up mushroom of your own, with a blue-raspberry flavored twist.

Much like Red Bull, and other energy beverages, the Mario drink is sure to taste more like the water from one of the plumber’s sewage jobs than a fresh raspberry. But, we don’t doubt that it will have you tittering and teeth-chattering all-month all-night long. — Andrew Dobrow

The Super Mario theme has lyrics?

Despite our love for the infectious theme of the Super Mario Bros. game, we never knew the melody had actual lyrics to go along with the tune. The song is actually called “Go Go Mario”. The video above has both the Japanese and English versions. It’s intriguing to us that we are only learning now about these lyrics. What else is Nintendo hiding from us?!

All the benefits of Mushrooms, without the hallucinations

mushrooms_1.jpg

We all need some stress relief in our life every now and again. Some people choose to accomplish this taking mind-altering substances, such as hallucinogenic mushrooms. Others prefer to squeeze the living hell out of a Super Mario Bros. stress relief mushroom. There are four models to choose from including the 1up mushroom, the poison mushroom, the super mushroom, and awkwardly shaped question-mark block.

We’ve always wanted one of these squishy stress relief thingys, but always were too manly and studly to feel the need to buy one. These just look really cool though. For $8 you can own one. We still haven’t decided whether thats over expensive or a deal. We love squishy things though. — Andrew Dobrow

We have tried and tried and tried and tried to enjoy classical music. Most classical just puts us asleep, but there are a select few composers and songs which peak our interest. Of course, there are the dynamic sounds of Beethoven and the beautiful structure of Mozart, but our favorite is the great people at Nintendo. Please, let us explain.

Play! is a full symphony and choir which focuses soley on video game music, themes and visuals. The video shows their rendition of the Super Mario Bros. theme, but the fun doesn’t stop there.

Make your own Super Mario quilt, because plumbers always keep you warm…or something

super mario quilt

Oh, how we miss our old NES systems. As you stare into the pixels of Mario’s greatness you realize that nostalgia has a funny way of playing with your mind, but more importantly, how your mind percieves. Looking back now, Super Mario Bros. of course was a great game of its time and was clearly influential, but what the hell happened to all of those Mario disks? Have they all been disposed of? We know…we can play Mario online now through websites, but the nostalgia is what we miss.

Anyway, I digress. The Mario Quilt looks to be a stylish little throw quilt that would clearly add some geeky flavah to which ever bland piece of furniture it graces. Honestly, it doesn’t look warm at all. Sometimes comfort has to be sacrificed for comfort we suppose. But the cool part is that you can’t even buy these in stores. It’s all DIY.

The image of middle aged woman sewing is usually mildly depressing for us. Every curl in place as they thread Mario’s suspenders. But seeing one working on a Mario quilt, like from DIYnamite, is sort of alluring in a creepy housewife kinda way (as you can tell from the image she is very proud of her quilt and is even looking away from her DS long enough to smirk at the camera, at least it looks like a DS). We here aren’t much for sewing, but after seeing this, we might just have to learn how to stitch. — Andrew Dobrow
