Vandalize Your Town and Share Your Tags with ARstreets Augmented Reality Graffiti iPhone App
While I love defacing a building just as much as the next guy, the law doesn’t agree with my propensity for destroying the hopes and dreams of many a business owner. In fact, some lawmakers even shun upon it. So I can’t use spray paint to tag your buildings. I get it. Even though I can’t understand why you don’t want a WORK of ART on your otherwise inconspicuous business’s walls. The ARstreets iPhone app allows you to both stick... Continue reading
Mario Kart Comes to Life in City Bike Lane
Living on the East Coast, I don’t hear too much about Portland, Oregon. In fact, the most I know about Portland is that it’s located somewhere between Seattle and Los Angeles, and that it has some of the coolest gaming fans in the world. How do I know it has great gaming fans? This local news story reporting from North Portland covers the new Mario Kart street graffiti that has appeared between Tillamook Ave. and N. Cook Ave. The anonymous... Continue reading
Ambidextrous Street Artist Shows Off His Skills
I can’t even come close to what he’s drawing, even using one hand and taking as much time as I need. Maybe if I traced it. Maybe. But even then, I’d find a way to mess it up. That’s no exaggeration. I’m really that bad. I find this sort of coordination incredible. It just seems a little unfair. I’ve admitted my desire to have at least some sort of artistic ability on here before. But then I see this guy,... Continue reading
WWJP: What Would Jesus Play?
Amen. Photographed outside of a cathedral in Berlin, Germany by Flickr user Ben Scicluna. Not only was Jesus assembled for your sins, he was assembled for your pleasures as well. Link [via]
WTF? LOL! Get Your OMFG Here!
Are you proud of your internet vernacular? Whoever is responsible for this “advertisement,” you have me SMH. While it might be totally SFW, FWIW, this seems like a mighty waste of time. Take that English language! Link [via]
Darth Vader Misfits Skull Spotted on City Street
I’m not quite sure of what city this awesome Darth Vader/Misfits Skull wheatpaste graffiti was found, though we do know it was on Lake Street in some city, somewhere. Although the two are unrelated, it sort of works out great. Children of the late 70s are going to be really happy with this one. Link [via]
iBanksyMachine Allows Anyone To Be Banksy
Have you ever dreamed that you too could be a mysterious super-awesome political street artist like Banksy? Here is your chance, no matter how lame it might be. The iBanksyMachine is basically a vending machine which doles out instant Banksy stenciling kits. Included in the kits are stencils of some of Banksy’s most popular street pieces, along with spray paint and instructions on how to rip the guy off. They say imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, but... Continue reading
Spray Can Stool Provides Proper Seating for Vandals
The “Cap” Spray Can Nozzle Stool is an awesome ode to the purveyors and enthusiasts of graffiti. Designed by Don’t Feed The Swedes, this rad seat is a stand-alone piece of pop art all on its own. Slap a few Andy Warhol posters on your wall and you’ll be stylin’ like Kanye.
Street Art in Seville
Free wi-fi is surprisingly hard to come by across in Europe, so I wasn’t able to post much during my recent trip across the pond. I’ve made it back home safe and sound now so this weekend and next I’ll be posting more of what I saw on my travels. One place I checked out was Seville, an ancient city in Southern Spain that’s always been an important center for arts and culture. In addition to being the birthplace of... Continue reading
Lisbon’s Street Art Scene
Lisbon is an old city where medieval castles, fortresses, and ancient Roman aqueducts can be found right in the heart of downtown. Incredible grafitti is also prominent in Lisbon, especially alongside the city’s many rail lines. After the jump, check out some of the best street art that I saw during my time in the Portugese capital.
