When it’s been a long day at work and you’re sapped of any energy you require to pack up your belongings and scurry home, you’ll need to facilitate the process. A briefcase doesn’t come close to fitting your whole workstation in it like the Cyber Box does. It’s a cubicle on the move that, when on your way out, forces you to take the elevator.

Designer Jacky Nicolas wanted to give workers a way to lock up their computer into an elegant case when not in use. It was designed for home use, but I can imagine this working well in the cubicle-ridden world of business.  It’s like a collapsible fortress of solitude that you can lock up to keep Lex Luthers (your co-workers) away from.  You can bet that with a base made of beechwood, chromium metal parts and industrial castors, the Cyber Box doesn’t come in cheap.  Although, if you’re Bill Lumburg it won’t matter.

You awake from your bed. It’s a Monday morning. You throw on the coffee pot, blink a few times and open up Gearfuse. Great. An NPR Map.

It may not be exciting like a bunch of light up dildos, but it’ll keep you entertained for sure. With this NPR Map, you’ll be able to find out what your local NPR station is no matter the state/city/town/watering hole. Search around the map and I’m sure you’ll spot WHYY on there.

The picture above is Microsoft’s new fortress of solitude for Bill Gates. Just kidding, it’s actually a fire station in Mexico City. It was designed by the companies At 103 and BGP Arquitectura.  It’s not much of a looker during the day but at night, light shines through the slits in between the chrome-like plates for an impressive light show you’re guaranteed not to find at any other fire station.

Why such a fancy fire station? Well, it also serves as a recruiting center. As such, you’ve got to have an appealing environment if you want to attract heat-craving lifesavers that are not only crazy enough to wear a fire hose, but also crazy enough to take a job that’s about as dangerous as it gets.
