Public Service Announcement On The Go

You don’t need a DJ Mobile to be able to make public announcements over a loud speaker. Take a look at this briefcase.  It’s transportable and it’s got a built-in sound system that includes a 20-watt amplifier and 4″ speakers.  While it may not have a toilet inside of it like the Gotta Go Briefcase, it’s got the next best thing.

What’s the next best thing, you ask? The ability to be able to announce to everyone that you’ve divorced Carolyn and you’re eloping with Sarah Palin. It can be powered for up to four hours by eight C batteries or an AC plug. At $350 bucks, embarrassing unwanted attention awaits you.

USB Tube Speaker Glows Bright at Night

Brando, maker of all things cheap and USB, has graced us with yet-another beautiful USB-powered gadget. This time around, it’s an acrylic tube speaker with blue LEDs glowing inside it. Plug in your iPod/PC and get the tunes going while you play Crysis for hours on end.

At $22, you’re not going to find anything better that’s in the same speaker class. Might as well pour yourself a cocktail full of Hypnotiq and blast some Wu-Tang like it’s 1997 all over again.

GetLoFi Dub Siren

Remember those kick ass noise-making key chains from the 1990s? If you can and remember the classic siren and laser sounds, then this mod is right up your alley. With a little circuit bending and DIY work, the Dub Siren Box became a reality.

Each pad is wired to an eight position selector switch. The pitch resistor is replaced with a linear pot. One push button is used to replace the original eight and another is used for mute. Plug the 1/4inch jack into a delay pedal and you’re ready to rock.

After watching the video, I was a little let down. It’s just a dude shifting the pitch of a key chain with a delay pedal. Since it’s mostly the delay pedal doing all the work, you could probably achieve similar results with a microphone, delay pedal and amplifier.

SpeaQualizer Keeps The Party Going

Have you ever wanted a tabletop equalizer? No? Oh. Well this isn’t an equalizer, this is the SPEAQUALIZER! Yes! It’s true! For $40, this little baby will make colored lights hop and dance to all your tunes. The built-in mic helps it detect sound, so make sure the party is pumpin’ before you leave it on the coffee table for the night. Runs on four AAA batteries so it ends up costing way more than forty bucks.

Maybe if you indulge in a little LSD, it’ll become infinitely more valuable…

Floating Wireless Speaker Is Not A Flotation Device

Listening to music while relaxing in your swimming pool just got a whole lot easier. Neiman Marcus’ website is selling a floating wireless speaker for $150, which includes the base and one speaker. Any additional speakers would be an extra $100. The speakers are able to go up to 9-feet underwater for up to 30 minutes, just in case you dive on top of one. But no worries, as they can “swim” better than most people, as they won’t stay submerged. With 150 feet wireless range and up to 6 hours of battery life, the floating speaker is the perfect gadget on a sunny day by your pool.

Speak-er Says What You Won’t

Designer of the double-ended jar, Sherwood Forlee has come up with an artsy concept for a speaker. The “Speak-er” is a speech bubble speaker. Other than that, it really doesn’t have much going for it, aside from fitting in your comic-book themed room. Having two of these coming out of your monitor will make you feel like your monitor has something to say. But no, that’s actually just your shitty MP3 collection playing.

Laptop Desk Puts A Weird Look On Your Face

Laptops are a pain in the ass to relax with if you’re not sitting at a desk. Thankfully, there are alternatives to burning a hole in your crotch. FeDom is marketing a notebook desk with built-in 2.1 speakers as well as cooling fans. The desk is compatible with a bunch of operating systems, including those still stuck using Win98 SE. It can be powered via USB or with four D-cell batteries; the more power options, the better. The legs fold in for an easily storable desk for all you pack rats scrounging for space. Now that’s convenience!

Sony Sountina Glass Speakers Double as a Bong

Sony’s latest prototype speaker, the Sountina, has finally arrived on store shelves. Besides its awkward shape and size, the main selling-point is the transparent organic glass tube which vibrates and expands sound to 360-degrees. In the guise of Obi-Wan Kenobi’s bong, this speaker has a larger price tag than any glass piece used for tobacco purposes only. If you can afford $10k for the single speaker, you’d know it’s the only speaker you’d ever need. After all, it generates sound in every direction and it’ll get you high.

Literally Rock Out With Klipsch

klipschrock

Klipsch knows how to bring the rock. No, literally. They bring the rock with this outdoor speaker known as the AWR-650-SM. Shaped like a big rock, it cranks out big sound with its 6.5-inch dual-voice woofer. Obviously designed for outdoor use, it’s UV-resistant and somewhat weather-resistant as well.

Just in case your villa isn’t in Arizona, it comes in granite and red rock finish in addition to sandstone. I guess you could say you’re going to rock out when you’re partying with this speaker! Haha…sorry.

Design an iPod Speaker from a Musical Card

fqubq0hfg7ktg18medium.jpg

My birthday was on Tuesday and I got about three musical cards this year. Though they were good for a short laugh, I felt bad that my siblings had spent $5 on a card just because it looped a sound over and over again. Luckily, Justin from Instructables has come up with a way to turn your useless birthday card into a sweet speaker for your MP3 player.

Essentially, you’ll be dismantling the card and wiring it up to a pair of headphones. Once that’s done, you’ll do a little cutting, wiring and next thing you know, you’ll be the proud new owner of a piece-of-shit speaker. Congratulations! It’s DIY!
