Hennessy’s Cognac Kicks

Hennessy is the world’s most popular brand of cognac. Cognac is the choice beverage of classy dude’s everywhere like Saturday Night Live’s the Ladies Man and North Korean Dictator Kim Jong Il, so it was really only a matter before Hennessy stepped into the realm of menswear.

Since everybody else seems to have their own shoes these days, Hennessy’s first foray into fashion is a custom pair of kicks made with luxury sneaker label Jhung Yuro. These Hennessy high tops cost $300 and they’ll be available exclusively at the Jhung Yuro online store starting on December 1st.

Artist Jim Lasser is showing a political art exhibition in Portland, Oregon called “The Dunk on McCain.” For the exhibit Lasser made this neat pair of Barack Obama Air Force Ones featuring the Democratic nominee on the soles.

Lasser’s exhibition also features a series of prints made with the shoes. You’d think that Obama fans would prefer stepping on John McCain’s face. Kids these days just don’t make any sense.

With These Shoes You’ll Always Collect $200 When Passing Go

There is little selection of footwear that are cooler than high-tops. When Reebok high-tops are fashioned with a Monopoly board design, even Rich Uncle Pennybags can’t resist dropping a money bag to rock these bad boys.

Set to be released around the same time as the Monopoly Here & Now: The World Edition, these high-tops with dice patterned laces make even the Voltron line of Reeboks less desirable.  Without them you are not allowed to pass go and you are not allowed to collect $200.

Custom Joker Shoes Make Others Look Nervous

Know what makes people go batshit? The Dark Knight. Get it? Get it? C’mon!

Shitty jokes aside, check out these custom-made Converse Chucks from SweatShop Clothing. Looks like the design team over there really had a hard-on for Heath (RIP) as they really went to town on this pair of kicks. All four suits in a deck of cards plus an image of the Joker’s face add to the look, including text that says “WHY SO SERIOUS?” That should be enough to send chills down your spine if you saw the movie.

It features a picture of the respective stadium and a set of dates. It’s a bittersweet tribute to the two legendary stadiums NYC will be losing this year.

Nike’s Back To The Future Basketball Shoe

I don’t know about you, but I happen to think the Back To The Future trilogy is one of the greatest achievements of modern cinema. The only thing I didn’t like about it is how the whole world is supposed to end if Michael J. Fox meets Past or Future Michael J. Fox, but when Jennifer meets Future Jennifer nothing really happens. That part sucked.

Anyway, remember in Back To The Future 2 when Michael J. Fox is in the year 2015 and he has the really kickass sneakers that tie themselves? Of course you do. They were really kickass. Turns out, you’re not the only one who loved those shoes. Fans of the kicks put a petition online in order to start “a grassroots movement to get Nike to make available to consumers the futuristic-looking sneakers seen in the 1989 movie Back to the Future Part 2.” Back To The Future fans dubbed the shoes the “McFly 2015″ after the the name of Fox’s character Marty McFly. Hip Hop star Kanye West even got in on the action by having Takashi Murakami draw a bear wearing the sneakers on the cover of his album Graduation. This month, Nike finally released the Air McFlys– sort of.

Color Changing Sneakers React To Sunlight

Asics teamed with the German sneaker boutique solebox to create the Gel Lyte III, a pair of dope kicks that change color when exposed to sunlight. Having sneakers that change from white to purple when you step outside might not be as practical as Transitions type color changing sunglasses, but they look much cooler. The Gel Lyte III’s hit stores on August 23rd. Purple isn’t my thing so I won’t be buying, but I do want to get a look at these in person since they’re probably the most unique thing to hit the sneaker scene since those Nike transformers. After the jump, check out more pics of these Chameleon style kicks.

Nike PhotoiD Campaign

Who doesn’t love Nike? Between their excellent sportswear and baller shoes, Nike is always pushing boundaries in the art world. The latest project to come from the most popular athletic shoe manufacturer is Nike PhotoiD, a new art movement/marketing gimmick that lets users take photos of cool things they see in real life and apply it to a custom-designed pair of kicks. See some graffiti you like? Take a picture and throw it on your Dunk 6.0s.

Be warned about a few things before popping a sneaker freaker though. One, the shoes will only feature the two most dominant colors, not a silk-screened version of your photo or whatever you had in mind. Also, you’re limited to a pair of 1985 Dunk high-tops, which I’m sure no one is complaining about. Lastly, no US service. This marketing campaign is being rolled out in Europe and Europe only my friends.

The Walking Bike Offers A Helping Foot

walkbikelr1.jpg

Environmentalists will tell you that there are only two proper ways to get around in these days of global warming; bike riding and walking. Why not bound these two transportation methods into one? The Walking Bike from Max Knight uses specially modded wheels which have 8 sneakers attached instead of a typical treaded tire.

Not only does The Walking Bike look pretty sweet, but it is actually rideable. It might not be the smoothest ride you’ve ever had, and you might not win the Tour De France while riding it, but sometimes function must suffer for fashion. (more…)
