Reminder: Tomorrow is the Day For iPhone MMS

mms-iphone

The big news this Friday is that MMS is finally coming to the coveted iPhone, which is great, because I’m sick of hearing people bitch about it. We actually thought we’d see MMS enabled with the big 3.0 update, but nope, took a few more months than expected while AT&T got their shit together. Let’s all get MMS, send off our first message and forget that the service even exists. That’s how it’s going to be.

Anyway, if you’re following along, AT&T will be upgrading your phone tomorrow via your carrier settings. Your iPhone will have to be plugged into iTunes for the update to take effect. AT&T plans to release the update by early afternoon EST.

So basically, you can bet your ass that around noon tomorrow Twitter will be in an outrage, full of people enraged that they haven’t received their MMS yet. Prepare for an onslaught of #myfirstmms hash tags.

Apple Releases Sirius-XM iPhone App

siriusxm4-200x300

Woohoo! Maybe now my shares of Sirius-XM will actually gain a little on this news. But yeah! Apple FINALLY released the Sirius-XM iPhone app today and it comes with a few surprises that subscribers will gladly welcome. The big kahuna is that you can stream satellite radio over 3G, turning your iPhone into the ultimate portable radio. It also sports an easy-to-use killer interface. Want to try it out? There’s a 7-day trial going down right now. Hop on it.

UPDATE: No Stern, MLB or NFL. Big mistake.

Microsoft Unleashes Internet Explorer 8

internet-explorer-8_2

Like a bat out of hell, Microsoft this morning released Internet Explorer 8. As the follow up to the ultra-successful IE7, version 8 has a lot to live up to considering how commonplace Mozilla’s Firefox is becoming. New features include searching with images, web slices, new accelerated rendering engines and…well, yeah. That’s the gist of it. Walt Mossberg from the Wall Street Journal says it’s much better than previous versions and is a worthy competitor to Firefox. Sounds good. If I was using a Windows-based computer, I’d totally download it.

Belkin revealed Bluetooth Dock Adapter for iPod

Today was a big day in the technology world, for CES opened and product releases are rolling out. However, there is also another expo going on right now; Macworld opened today up in San Francisco. While Jobs’ keynote is scheduled for tomorrow at 9 AM Pacific time (be sure to tune in here for all the info), some companies decided to jump the gun a little and release their products today. Belkin was one of these such companies, and they unveiled the next accessory for an iPod. The Bluetooth Dock Adapter is actually a pretty neat, for you can attach your iPod to a wireless adapter, which will allow you to play your songs through a stereo dock. Now there are a lot of stereo docks for iPods, but not many have the capability to control your actual iPod (as opposed to a remote) away from the speakers. Now you don’t have to worry about having to figure out a new remote; you can feel all cozy inside when you get to use that special scroll-wheel you love so much. At $129.99 is a decent price for one of these ever-so-popular iPod docks, and the wireless capability makes it one of the cooler ones out there. — Nick Rice
