I Have Found Gamer Heaven and it is Located in Osaka
Comb through the streets of Denden town, located in the Nipponbashi district of Osaka, Japan and you might come across something that makes your heart-writhe and your head sing. Super Potato is a gaming and game collectible superstore located in the shopping district of Osaka, and the images I’ve posted speak for themselves. While it’s square-footage is meager, the contents overflow from the storefront and the treasures inside are among the things you might only get to see once in... Continue reading
The $12 Million Ferrari
The word “Testarossa” has a certain ring to it that makes any man worthy of the title smile. Long a favorite Ferrari model by collectors, this 1957 Ferrari 250 Testarossa is the pinnacle of luxury. It recently sold for $12.2 million at an auction in Italy. There’s only 22 of them in existence and fashion mogul Ralph Lauren owns two of them, so don’t go holding your breath or saving your pennies just yet. Link
Transparent Mac SE Prototype
Here’s a little known fact that most people have no clue about: Back in the day, when Apple was working on a new computer model, the prototypes before mass production would feature clear, translucent casing. Don’t believe me? Fire up that DVD player and go watch Hackers. Angelina Jolie uses a clear-plastic Powerbook in the movie. And this Mac SE/30? No exception. It’s a beautiful-looking pre-production model that any collector would love to own. Link
Yeah, The Stroke’s The Word
My words cannot do this rare NES joystick test cartridge justice. Instead, allow ’80s rocker Billy Squier to describe what you’d normally do after acquiring this game: Now everybody have you heard If you’re in the game, then the stroke’s the word Don’t take no rhythm, don’t take no style Got a thirst for killin’, grab your vile… You put your right hand out give a firm hand-shake Talk to me about that one big break… Spread your ear-pollution both... All you need to know is that it’s fast. The bike goes up for auction December 20th at the Bonhams Switzerland auction house. The starting bid? A staggering $300,000. Bidders with pre-existing Ferraris... Continue reading
The Grapes of Cash
If Tom Joad had some of these grapes, he could have moved out of hicksville and into the Ritz-Carlton or some shit. This bunch of deliciously sweet grapes went for $1000 at a recent auction. For $1000, a hotel owner was able to procure 30 of the sweet, succulent grapes that are a little smaller than a CamBall. These just weren’t any grapes though: The Ruby Roman variety, developed by the Ishikawa Prefecture Agricultural Research Center, was sold to an... Continue reading
