Classic Looks: Carrera Vintage Racing Sunglasses

shades

You’re the man now, dog. You don’t even know what a recession is. Shit, recession isn’t even in your fucking vocabulary. After all, that is a nice LP 650-4 Roadster you just picked up. How many hundreds of thousands did you drop on that again? Right.

Well do me a favor. If you’re going to be driving around in a fashionable car, you’re going to need a pair of fashionable sunglasses. Give Carrera’s new vintage line a spin. These shades are inspired by classic 1950s looks combined with the raw edge of the 1980s (read: cocaine trafficking), making them incredibly sleek looking. I’m sure if Steve McQueen were alive today, he’d certainly be rocking these at lunch. Get your own at Bloomingdale’s or Solstice, with prices ranging from $120-$150.

YouReview Contest: Road Mice Wireless Mouse

Today is your lucky day, dear reader. We have another contest on our hands and this time, there’s a catch. We have two wireless mice up for review from Road Mice, a Four Door Media company. One is a black Corvette and the other is the 2009 Camaro. Pretty rad.

Rather than review a mouse myself, I’m enlisting you to review it. Leave a comment with a valid name, e-mail address and a good reason why you want to review one of these. Two people will be chosen at random to receive the mice. You write a three paragraph (or more) review and send it to us and you get to keep the mice. Think of it as “citizen journalism” or “unpaid writing,” depending on how cynical you are.

UPDATED: Contest ends on December 31st, 2008. Start your engines! More details about the mice after the jump.

Delta 7 Sports Ascend Bicycle

Those of you trying to get an edge over Lance Armstrong should look no further. Delta 7 Sports’ new Ascend road bike is quite the work of art. Using intertwined carbon fiber that resembles that of a wicker basket, the Ascend is one of the lightest bikes if not the lightest road bike on the planet. The frame weighs a mere 1.8 pounds, giving you an unprecedented advantage in any race. Winning a race doesn’t come cheap, though. Be prepared to drain your wallet of $12,000 for the Ascend.

Formula One’s Shark Fin Racecar Fad

Futuristic aerodynamic cars seem to be all the rage among automakers these days and the craze has made it’s way to Formula One racing where so-called “shark fin” cars are popping up left and right. Last week, Ferrari became the latest F1 racing team to try out the distinctive finned engine cover at a race in Jerez, Spain. Red Bull was the first F1 team to try out the design in February. Since then, Toyota, Renault, Toro Rosso, McLaren, and Force India have all jumped on the shark fin bandwagon. The design is thought to be more aerodynamic, but race teams are still wary that it might be vulnerable to crosswinds. After the jump, check out more shark fin racecar porn pics.

Racing Up The Walls

Recalling my childhood, I had some really interesting and quirky toys as a kid. From Sewer Sharks to Mighty Max, there was always something new, colorful and exciting to discover about them. Now it’s 2008 and shitty raps and bright colors don’t cut it anymore. Kids want excitement. They want realism. They’re going to both want and ask you for this RC car.

The Air Hog Zero Gravity Micro RC (whew!) is like any other RC toy with a remote with the exception that it can drive up your fucking wall. That’s right. Using some crazy air vortex technology, you can slap it on a wall, under a table or any other flat surface and drive around on it. You’ll get about 10 minutes of playtime with a 30 minute charge on the battery. At around $60, it’s a pretty reasonably priced way to keep your child entertained until his friend comes over with something ten times cooler.

M-112 Concept Car

eco_custom3.jpg

This is one tiny-ass car. It truly puts cars like the MINI and SmartCar to shame in terms of size and fuel economy. There isn’t much info on the M-112, though one can easily see it’s a small one-seater that resembles a futuristic go-kart. Don’t hold your breath if you’re thinking of getting one, as it was specially designed for the Shell Eco Marathon race in France.

Hit the jump for more pics of the lil’ bugger.

Playing SNES Super Mario Cart On A High-End Motion Simulator

Playing racing games can sometimes be pretty one-dimensional, especially on a 16-bit gaming console. This was a time when there were no vibrating gaming controllers, so racing was just about as real as walking with your hands reaching out in front of you, grasping on to an imaginary wheel.

But if you could take the SNES system playing Super Mario Kart, and modify it so that a high-end motion simulator can recreate engine vibrations, pavement texture and high frequency suspension vibration, you have a much more interesting experience on your hands. Check out the video above to see the experience.

Feel the wind in your hair with the D-Box GP-100 Racing Chair

d-box gp-100 race chair

It’s a feeling that many consider to be exclusive to driving a brand new luxury convertible. That feeling is no longer exclusive because you can get it in your gaming room if you are willing to shell out $15,000. Your small fortune will buy you the D-Box GP-100 racing chair. This chair will revolutionize the way that you play racing games. Why? Because you feel even the little bumps in the road. You feel them through the motors that push and pull you in three axis: up down, left right, and forward backward. This means that you will definately know when you are making that hard left when it should have been a leisurely drift around that long turn. You will also know when that jackass of an AI driver slams into your rear bumper because you just might get whiplash. Games are becoming more and more like real life, and while these kinds of accessories aren’t cheap, they are beginning to revolutionize the way that we play games. Even little things like Guitar Hero and DDR make games more involved; you don’t have to sit in your favorite comfy chair anymore. — Nik Gomez
