The QW RTY K ybo r has no ” ” or ” “

Take a look at this keyboard. What do you see that is slightly off about it? It looks like an everyday QWERTY Keyboard, except it is made without an E, an A, a D, or an I. Are these the 4 most commonly used letters or something?

While there seems to be no explanation for the redesign, this keyboard would be a very humorous gag gift, or just a fun way to prank one of your friends by exchanging it with their keyboard when they aren’t looking. — Andrew Dobrow

Nokia cellphone patent confirms the N99 slider is in the works, and is lookin’ good

This patent design from Nokia gets us all hot and excited. The N99 slider phone, which is now evidently confirmed from this patent, is going to be one pretty looking cell. Along with the gorgeous QWERTY keyboard and widescreen display, the N99 will also house an unruly 8 MP digital camera.

And oh, how we love the tablet style twisty number pad. The pad seems to be able to fold so that it can be used even in QWERTY mode. This thing is looking gorgeous. — Andrew Dobrow

em one

Today on the Japan mobile front. ADSL infrastructure company eAccess has announced its new mobile carrier for Japan, eMobile. For now, they will carry only one phone. The Sharp EM ONE. eMobile will skim its way into the Japanese market in March with a data-only HSDPA service, which by 2008 should grow to voice data as well.

The Sharp EM ONE runs off of Windows Mobile 5 and looks very similar to other WinMob phones released to WillCom. The EM ONE features Bluetooth 1.2, OneSeg Digital TV support, 4.1-inch wide VGA screen, and a dual sliding screen which reveals a full QWERTY keyboard, much like the design of the newer HTC phones. When eMobile starts to support voice calling so will the EM ONE, but for now can only be used for data purposes.

Voice service is likely to be enabled with NTT DoCoMo to support nation wide calling. As dottocomu points out, not much is known about the new carriers network, but details should unravel rather quickly. — Andrew Dobrow

Other then the DVB-T and DVB-H supporting t600, Gigabyte also produces the HSDPA supporting GSmart q60 Smartphone. The q60 was shown at 3GSM, and though not creating the fuss that the t600 has, is indeed a nice looking phone. The Gsmart is powered by an Intel PXA270 512 MHz and runs on the newest Windows Mobile 6 Pro OS. The q60 also boasts a 2 megapixel camera with auto focus, a full QWERTY keyboard (god, that’s fun to type), Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity, and a 2.5in 260k color LCD screen, the q60 is nothing to ignore. We even like its blockish rectangle design! (more…)

Samsung’s revolutionary Ultra Smart F700 might be the iPhone killer

Samsung announced its latest addition to their Ultra line of phones with the Ultra Smart F700. Or as we like to call it, the only phone we’ve seen with the potential to be the iPhone killer. The phone will be displayed at the 3GSM World Congress.

The F700 has a pretty looking touchscreen, which happens to be very iPhone-esque. Samsung goes one step ahead of Apple in this case and adds in a QWERTY keyboard. Accessible after the touch screen slides out of place.

The F700 isn’t only a pretty face, but has the features to back it up. VibeTonz technology adds a vibration to every button so users can tell where their hands are. The F700 also delivers a “drag and drop” like interface on the touchscreen, meaning easier navigation and control for us users.

From AVING:

The Ultra Smart reflects the latest speed of 7.2 Mbps under the High Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) network.

A full HTML browser along with the QWERTY key pad enables easy access to the internet for e-mail and data services.

The device features 5 mega-pixel camera with auto focus and Bluetooth. With 7.2 Mbps HSDPA, it makes it easier to watch videos, listen to songs, share high-quality photos, or catch up on email on the move.

Can Samsung bring the iPhone down a peg? We shall see. (more…)

iDo P890 Pocket PC Phone iDoes it all

ido p890 pocket pc phone

Hong Kong based iDo launched its new line of P890 smartphones which run the Windows Mobile 5.0 PPC Phone Edition OS with Push Mail. It might look kind of clunky, but it’s one of those phones that packs in enough meat to make it worth it.

With a Freescale iMX21 350 MHz processor doing the powering deed along with a 128 MB Flash ROM and 64MB RAM, the P890 packs in enough power for the typical power-user. Its 2.8″ 260k LTPS TFT LCD color display won’t disappoint those who are looking for a hard worker rather then a feature powerhouse.

In addition, the P890 can record MPEG4 video and supports MPEG4, H.263, 3GP, ASF, WMV video, MP3, WAV, WMA, AAC, and AAC+ audio files. A 3 MP camera, QWERTY keyboard, Bluetooth 1.2, and an A2DP, miniSD slot tops it off. Measuring in at 126 x 59.4 x 22.4 mm and 195g.

The iDo P890 is now available in Hong Kong for 4980 Hong Kong dollars. We like them a little sleeker then the P890, but to each his own.

izenMobile KSMT and KRMA simplifies digital life

izenmobile ksmt

You might of already of heard about this phone, but known under a different name, the Glofiish M700. CoolSmartPhone is reporting that this might be the very first authentic picture of the KSMT to be seen on the internet. izenMobile says that the KSMT and KRMA are made to serve the small and medium businessman and woman to “make digital life easier”. We hate to break it to them, but he digital life HAS been a relatively easy place for years. Being productive and ambitious is one thing. Spewing inaccurate facts to plug your product is an entirely other story. But hey, if izenMobile has found a way to make it even easier, we’d love to see it. Features include a slide-out QWERTY keyboard and both devices include a Samsung 400MHz CPU, 128 MB Flash ROM, 64 MB SDRAM, and GPS. Including bluetooth and a 2 megapixel camera is just a perk we suppose.

One feature that is pretty cool, despite our skepticism of an easier digital life, is that izenMobile offers 25 GB of free online storage for pretty much and type of file or media you want, plus the addition of the Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 software for free. The added freebies are definitely an incentive. Come on, baby, make my digital life a breeze.

HTC Vox: The smartphone with sliding QWERTY

htc vox

Most electronic companies would shudder at the thought of putting a clunky QWERTY keyboard onto one of their productive and sleek smart-phones, pompous jerks. But with the first details (well actually rumors) coming in about HTC’s Vox is that it will come sporting a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard, which from the pictures, actually looks to be a nice little addition, as long as the display changes sideways when using QWERTY.

Along with the keyboard edition comes the standards of smart phones, including WiFi and Bluetooth. Unfortunately for us gear heads, the camera is only 2 Megapixels, same as the HTC Dash, which is pretty lame considering that my 2 year old cellphone has a 2 megapixel camera as well, and better cameras can now be found on children’s toys. All things considered, the phone is a rehash of the Dash, with an edition of a keyboard. Since the Dash worked fine without the keyboard, you have to wonder what the heck HTC is up to.
