Apple Might Be Blocking Push Notifications for Jailbroken iPhones

iphone_push

Word on the street is that Apple might be, and likely is, intentionally blocking push notifications on iPhones which have been jailbroken. The developers of the application Push-based reminder app NotifyMe have been getting an enormous amount of complaints from their 5% customer base which has hacked the iPhone in someway.

As it turns out, NotifyMe figured out that the reason the app wasn’t working correctly for these users was because they were being denied access to Apple’s Push Notification Server (APNS). Major cockblock. Understandable, but still, cockblock. Especially when it’s screwing with legit applications such as NotifyMe.

Apple Testing Push Notification Service

apple_push_notification_email-350x400

June is almost upon us, folks. There could be a new Mac or a new iPhone and the iPhone 3.0 OS is about to drop. Exciting! Even more so is that Apple is now having developers test its push-notification service. The Associated Press news app is the first to use it and if you have an ADC account, you can login and get a code that’ll let you try it out. Push news? Sounds cool and all but I’d have preferred something like AIM or an iChat app. IM, man! Think of the children!

Peek Unveils Pronto Email Device

custom_27q60llymsrf

We’re no strangers to Peek here at Gearfuse. The original device has gained somewhat of a cult following and has generated enough revenue and buzz for a new device. Today we have that device and it’s called the Peek Pronto. What’s so special about the Pronto? Exchange support and Push email. This is a huge move from Peek that’ll allow it to dive into the business sector and compete against devices like the Blackberry.

Peek has also included a development environment with the Pronto, though I don’t see how far you can an email-only device. Look for the Pronto in stores soon for $80. For all the details, hit the jump.

The SoulArc Skateboard Is A Board Within A Board

In an effort to exhibit the sense of surfing in skateboarding, Mitch Mulder came up with this design during a class project at Kendall College of Art and Design. After realizing he made a worthwhile draft he partnered up with Salvaore Vilardi to attempt to market the board.  It looks way more fun to mess around with than that 360.

The SoulArc is reminiscent of a long board except it’s tall structure and spring clad trucks allow for the transfer of energy in a manner similar to carving a wave. Mulder is one skateboarder who was sick and tired of riding planks. Now, he wants to market the board as a way for surfers to get around on land. No word on the price of the board but check out their official site for future availability.

Element Push Deck Rides Like A Beauty

Remember that carbon fiber Element Push deck? We were impressed by the craftsmanship of the board, so the folks at Element sent us one to check out. Specifically, the Atchley Stealth. The precise manufacturing that goes into making this deck is incredible and I’m glad we got our chance to take it for a test ride. We’ve even got a video showing the board off with my brother David varial kick-flipping and doing what I like to call the “hot abortion.”

New Element Deck Pushes The Envelope

The lightest most durable decks to hit store shelves, Element’s new “Push Construction Positive Negative” series of decks is leading by example and showing old-timers that wood isn’t good. Element had previously released a featherlight helium deck which trapped air in between the layers of the deck. Combining that with with carbon fiber material has spawned the first three pro-skateboarding sponsor Push Constructions: the “Darrell,” the “Muska” and the “Tave”.

Less wood equals responsible foresting and a more eco-friendly board than others. But skaters don’t care about clean air and clean streets. All they’re looking for is a mean grind and people to piss off.

Jump Bike Running Powered Bicycle

 jump1.jpg

Earlier this week we discussed the two proper ways of traveling through the eyes of a environmentalist, biking and walking, which happened to be merged into one gadget of awesomeness with the Walking Bike and its sneaker wheels. This time around, we have the yin to the Walking Bike’s yang, with the Jump Bike.

Instead of relying more on wheels and pedals, the Jump Bike focuses more on the human powered aspect, powered by the propulsion of your own running speed as you sit on the seat, peddling like the Flintstone’s. Now we have bike’s for both breeds of the confused eco-friend. (more…)
