PSP iPhone Case

psp-iPhone-case

From the same Etsy designer who brought us the Xbox 360 iPhone case.

The “screen panel” flips open to reveal a clam shell iPhone case meticulously designed to resemble Sony’s portable PSP console. Now if only we could download PSN content onto the iPhone.

Final Fantasy Tactics Coming to PS3, PSP

fftactics

Call me biased, but my favorite game for the original PlayStation is Final Fantasy Tactics. You can imagine my excitement when I read that the ESRB has rated Tactics for release on PSN. It’ll be available for download for both the PS3 and PSP and I’m guessing it’ll be priced around $9.99. The real question is, will they fix the job point glitch that can be found in the original version?

Don’t ask me why I’m awake at 5:11 AM on a Sunday morning but hey, check this out. It’s officially the next incarnation of Sony’s PSP. It’s called the PSP Go and so far, the following features are known about it:

# 3.8-inch display (resolution is undisclosed)

Engadget has the full scoop if you want all the deets. I haven’t been excited about a portable gaming system for a long time and this is making me grin.

PSP Go Revealed in Leaked Shots from Qore

pspgo1

Hey, hey Sony gamers. Looks like the Playstation team has let one slip. Originally scheduled for an E3 unveil, screenshots and video clips of the PSP Go have been revealed early by Qore magazine.

Above you will see the PSP Go in all of its glory in a apparent screenshot from the magazine. There’s also a video floating around of Qore’s Veronica Belmont chatting about the device with Sony’s John Koller. Now, what to do with that old 3000?

Rock Band Unplugged Track Listing

rockband_unplugged

PSP owners have been patient long enough! Finally, a Rock Band title is coming to the console in the form of Rock Band Unplugged. Were you hoping this would include exclusive MTV Unplugged versions of songs by your favorite 1990s bands? Hopefully not, ’cause that’s just not the case with Harmonix’s latest rocker game. But judging by the tracklist, not all hope is lost. Hit the jump to view the list in full.

Exer-Station: Wii Fit-like Gaming Exercise on Any Console

exer

This is just perfect. And not only because the Wii sucks! Okay, well mostly because the Wii sucks. But we have to hand it to Nintendo. Their little Wii Fit gimmick is a decent idea… in theory. The problem is that their console is a gimmicky pile of junk, which isn’t much help to those of us who need a serious workout.

By far, the most awesome thing about the Exer-Station Pro is that you don’t need the Wii to enjoy a side of gaming to go with your workout. Compatible with PlayStation, PSP, XBox, GameCube, Mac and PC, it has a tremendous amount of cross-console compatibility. No need to suffer for a mediocre console in vain.

I Want Candy: PSP 3000 Gets Colored

psp_carnival_colors

Guess which country gets cool colors slapped on a PSP while America gets the shaft? If you guessed France, you’re close, but no frog legs for you. Japan will see the Sony PSP 3000 released in bright blue, red, yellow and green, ensuring that girls go ga-ga for it as if it were the latest fashion accessory.

The rainbow-hued consoles will go on sale in Japan on March 19th for ¥19,800 ($223). Also available will be a kit, featuring a 4GB MemoryStick, a “private porch” (pouch) and a handosutorappu, which we believe to be a hand strap. The kit will go for ¥24,800 ($279).

Ah, being lost in translation. Priceless. If you want a colorful PSP of your own, you’ll have to do a little importing my friend.

Sony Sues Datel Over Hacker Battery

Back in November, we briefly discussed Datel’s Lite Blue Battery Tool, a battery you plugged into your PSP 3000 and used to run homebrew code. All was going well for Datel, until Sony decided it’d rather sell UMDs then have consumers pirate every PSP title. Now the Japanese megacorp is suing Datel and sales are now suspended until the lawsuit is resolved. Will Sony come out on top? Hard to tell, but judging by the legal team it has, I envision the Lite Blue Tool as an upcoming collector’s item.

Hacked: Sony PSP 3000

Sony has gone on the record saying that the piracy is affecting PSP game sales. That’s a givein; if it’s free, take it. This time around, a peripheral manufacturer called Datel has cracked the PSP 3000 by forcing it into service mode. Datel did some silicon hacking on a chip level to find out how it could force the PSP to run arbitrary code. You’ll be able to buy a battery called LITE BLUE TOOL battery that will enable service mode on PSP 2000 and 3000s, including yours. It’ll be a measly $30 when it hits North America later this month.

Watch Out! Sony DRM Is A Rough Experience

If you find yourself purchasing videos from Sony’s Playstation Network, be wary: You may want to read the Terms of Service thoroughly or you could risk the possibility of losing all of your purchased digital goods thanks to Sony’s DRM policy.

An Ars Technica forum-goer dubbed Noise found this out the hard way and warns others of this unfair policy. Having deleted purchased content from his hard drive in order to free up space – he later found that he was unable to re-download the videos.

“Purchased content can be downloaded to a single Playstation 3 or a single PSP system.” “Content cannot be redownloaded once it has been downloaded to either a Playstation 3 or PSP system.” “Consumer service can issue a redownload as a one-time courtesy, as provided by our guidelines, for the title to allow the consumer to go back and download the movie from their PSN download list.”

Noise may have lucked out this time with his “one-time courtesy” of a free download for video he’s already paid for but it’s his money and they should be his to keep for good. May this be a lesson and warning to all those who use the Playstation Network. Don’t let Sony screw you out of your money.
