Insane PS2 Game Collection

ps2-games

Look, it’s true, we’re totally envious of this guy’s massive PS2 game collection, we’re just not sure we’d sacrifice any sort of chance we might have had had at a love life just so we could claim to have one of the largest game collections ever.

Over the years Syd from Collecterz has accumulated well over 1200 PS2 games, the first being Jak & Daxter in 2002. His 1000th game was Chicken Little: Ace in Action. Sort of climactic? Perhaps. But don’t hate the playa… hate the game. Oh, and just so you haters don’t even have the chance, he swears that his collection isn’t fluffed with Greatest Hits titles.

I’m sure you can pick this up at every other subway stop in New York, but, ah, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Tarzan? Nice. Real nice.

Pre-order Guitar Hero: Van Halen

ghvanhalengstoplistingsjpg

Oh my god. Yessssssss.

You gotta understand, people. I am a huge Van Halen fan. For years I’ve always picked up my guitar and started playing EVH songs like “Atomic Punk”, “Cathedral” and, of course, “Ain’t Talkin’ ‘Bout Love.” Now, come August 4th, we’ll all be able to rock out to a shitload of Van Halen tracks via Guitar Hero. While I would have preferred for the game to be released on the Rock Band platform, GH is appropriate and I’m sure they’re not going to go fucking this one up. Even the PS2 is getting it, so you retro-gamers finally have something to get excited about.

Confirmed: $99 Playstation 2 Drops Tomorrow

sony_slim_ps2_1

Just a quick update here. Yesterday, we posted about a rumor concerning the Playstation 2 and a very slick $99 price point. Turns out the rumor is indeed true and the better news is that you won’t have to wait until April 5th to pick one up. According to the official Playstation blog, the system will be available tomorrow for $99.99 across the continent. Rejoice and play plenty of Devil May Cry!

Rumor: $99 PS2 Coming April 5th

ps299

With April Fool’s Day right around the corner, I’m not inclined to believe a lot of the news spewing out of the blogosphere this week. However, my buddy Nicholas Deleon over at CrunchGear is reporting that some dude at Kmart says that Sony is lowering the price of the Playstation 2 to $99. That’s a killer price point for a killer system with plenty of killer games. You’d be crazy not to pick one up for that price.

But like all rumors, time will tell the truth. Check out Kmart next Sunday and see for yourself.

Smuggling Drugs With A Playstation 2

Good idea: buying a PS2 to play some sick games.

Bad idea: buying a PS2 to gut it and smuggle drugs into your country.

That’s just what these three men, two Canadians and a New Zealander, are accused of. Well, not so much accused but more like getting caught red handed. Australian customs detected the parcel containing the drugs at Sydney’s international mail facility on October 5. They found 3,400 ecstasy pills hidden inside the PS2 that was en route to an address connected to the three men. They’re now facing life imprisonment and/or a $825,000 fine. Drugs don’t pay, kids.

Activision confirms Tony Hawk Proving Ground

hawk3_1.jpg

The announcement of Tony Hawk Proving Ground by Activision is pretty exciting. The game looks like it will be pretty groundbreaking in the action sports genre. For the first time, gamers will be able to define their own character, including their story and style, based on the in-game decisions they make. The new Hawk will also feature a video editing tool to create “epic skate videos”.

Tony Hawk Proving Ground will also contain online play were users can create their own Skater Lounge while grinding out with fellow gamers. Proving Ground is currently under devlopment by Neversoft for Xbox, PS3, PS2, Nintendo DS and Wii and is expected to be released later this year. More screens after the jump. (more…)

Guitar Hero III announced, and this time it’s 80’s themed

poison_80sbighair_1.JPG

Time to stock up on neon clothes and hairspray. Activision has announced plans for the production of a third installment to the popular Guitar Hero series of games with Guitar Hero: Rocks The 80’s. So far the game is only said to be for PS2, but really little is actually known in the first place.i

A few songs have already been announced for the next installment and here’s what is included so far: I Wanna Rock by Twisted Sister, I Ran by Flock of Seagulls (a personal favorite), Round and Round by Ratt, I Want Candy by Bow Wow Wow, Mental Health by Quiet Riot, Holy Diver by Dio (didn’t think they’d leave this out did you?), and Heat Of The Moment by Asia. Much more is sure to be announced in the coming months. No release date has been announced. — Andrew Dobrow

Your SIXAXIS Analog Stick is showing… you better cover that up

h_103_67339_3.jpg_1.jpg

We know from expereince with the PS2 that sustained use of the Playstation analog sticks causes them to get gnarled groves in them from all the vicious navigation. If you are sick and tired of having to play with those crude controller sticks, check out these sets of 10 PS3 analog stick covers.

Not only do they look really cool, but they are sure to be easier on the fingers and definitly easier on the controller. They come in a choice of 5 different colored sets and are available now if you have enough Yen. (more…)
