Just a quick update here. Yesterday, we posted about a rumor concerning the Playstation 2 and a very slick $99 price point. Turns out the rumor is indeed true and the better news is that you won’t have to wait until April 5th to pick one up. According to the official Playstation blog, the system will be available tomorrow for $99.99 across the continent. Rejoice and play plenty of Devil May Cry!

With April Fool’s Day right around the corner, I’m not inclined to believe a lot of the news spewing out of the blogosphere this week. However, my buddy Nicholas Deleon over at CrunchGear is reporting that some dude at Kmart says that Sony is lowering the price of the Playstation 2 to $99. That’s a killer price point for a killer system with plenty of killer games. You’d be crazy not to pick one up for that price.

But like all rumors, time will tell the truth. Check out Kmart next Sunday and see for yourself.

This will coincide with a price drop on the 80GB PS3 from $599 to $499.
