PS3 living large in Russia

ps3ad_1.jpg

This PS3 ad seen in Russia proves Sony’s drive to improve world wide sales. This thing is huge. The billboard displays a straight message. It reads, translated from Russian “Playstation 3: The gaming spaces of Russia”.

For such a vast country, we guess you need a vast ad campaign. And Sony seems to be pulling out all the stops. (more…)

The ultimate gaming system made by avid gamer

ultgamingset1.jpg

And you thought you were an avid gamer? This gaming fan has such a passion for playing, he just had to set up his own rig. What resulted was a head-to-head gaming system, much like the ones featured in many Japanese arcades. “In Japan, competition games like Street Fighter and Virtua Fighter generally have head-to-head cabinets and I wanted to recreate that feel at home with my own setup”.

Using his extensive 3D modeling knowledge, he rendered himself a design for his dream gaming cabinet and passed them along to a cabinet maker he had known when he worked in the video game industry. This monster houses a Playstation 3, with a PC running a AMD Athlon 64×2 Dual Core processor, 2GB of RAM, and a NVdia GeForce 7950 GX2 Video Card, all networked to his computer system inside the house for complete integration. He’s also my new personal hero. (more…)

PS3 ads in Xbox 360 game: Too friggen funny

xbox 360 ads

Microsoft can’t cut themselves a break these last few days. They haven’t really been doing a good job of helping that fact either. In this preview screenshot from the recently announced UEFA Xbox 360 game, an add for the Playstation 3 can be plainly seen in the background.

Microsoft probably should of scoped out the UEFA’s sponsers before signing on for a video game deal, which include both Sony and the Playstation brand. Sony is getting a pretty nice deal with this game. Though I’m sure they would rather have people buy their games then to have their name seen in a Microsoft game. — Andrew Dobrow

PS3 supply to exceed demand

ps3

Things have not been going good at all for Sony recently. The PS3, which was one of the most, if not the most, highly anticipated gaming consoles ever to be released has entered a serious slump. Marketing trends and sales are showing a bleak prediction for the future of the PS3 system. On the initial date of release, the PS3 flew off the shelves at the speed that was to be expected. Days later the systems were being sold for $2,000 a pop on eBay to the many who were not able to find one. Only weeks after the release, prices for the PS3 on eBay are selling for barely over the retail price, if at all, regardless of the lack of supply in stores. With the Microsoft Nintendo Wii leading the charge in every category, the Playstation 3 continues to lag behind in sales. Many are already predicting that there are going to be too many of them around with not enough of a market. Although many sales predictions showed Sony has having a breakout product with the PS3, this is what happens when you stay in the technology game, without innovating your style. The Wii is fresh, fun, and cool and in the end, the PS3 is basically the PS2 with better graphics. — Andrew Dobrow
