Busy Playing Fallout 3, Do Not Disturb

I’ve been flaking at work, school and life ever since the release of Fallout 3. I snagged the collectors edition of the game and haven’t stopped playing since. One thing I can say about the game this early on is it’s tough scrounging for ammo, especially after you’ve wasted all of it on a giant fire ant’s skull. Now in regards to leveling and building up your character, it is much easier than Fallout 1 and 2. In the previous games, you were lucky if you came out with a well-rounded character that could do a little of everything. Well, either lucky or just weak. In Fallout 3, with the adjustments to the way tagged skills work and the many skill-related perks in the game, a character can easily be half-decent at every skill in the game.

Of course, most players like to focus on one skill and become a master of it. I’m just surprised how well a “jack-of-all-trades” character works in this game. If I were to make a similar character in Fallout 1, I wouldn’t get past the first radscorpion cave. Check back for screens of the goodies that come in the collectors edition, later today.

The Ultimate DS Meetup

It seems like you can make a Guinness World Record out of any feat these days. Last year, 381 Australian kids set the Guinness World Record for simultaneous Nintendo DS playing. I wonder if there’s a Guinness World Record for most people standing around in Times Square with a thumb in their ass.

Tomorrow, members of a UK DS fan group called DSLondon are going to take a crack at breaking last year’s simultaneous Nintendo DS playing record. DSLondon hopes to attract at least 500 DS gamers to the Rocket Complex on Holloway Road, London. In the area? Be a part of history. All you’ve got to do is show up with a DS and begin playing. What an easy record to break.

The fine people over at MakeUseOf.com have compiled a list of essential guitar tools that will suit any master of the axe well. The roundup includes guitar tab sites, tab editors and organizers and scale programs. All of these tools are great ways to help you improve your playing and learn new techniques. Guitar programs such as Guitar Rig, GarageBand and Logic Express can all add new sounds to your playing and are usually available in demo form from the manufacturer’s website.

Remember, make sure the guitar you’re playing on is of reasonable size.
