Little Big Pac-Man And Other Little Big Classics

I sure hope you’ve had a chance to dabble with LittleBigPlanet. If you haven’t, you’re certainly missing out on all of the fan-made levels that have flooded Sony servers, causing SOCOM to be unplayable. With all of the creative power behind the game, it’s no surprise players have already started recreating their favorite gaming classics such as Pac-Man, Tetris, Sonic The Hedgehog, Space Invaders and even Dig-Dug.

There will no doubt be more classics to come as the games creative utilities and player base become larger with each passing day. Looking for something challenging? Check out Vince’s level. He put some time in creating the most frustrating level known to platform games, but also threw in a hidden passage to bypass most of the stage! Genius.

Make ‘Em: Globes

When I was a wee lad sitting in school, I never had any time to pay attention to my teachings. I was too fascinated by the globe by my desk. I had feverishly wondered how they made the globe reflect the terrain accurately and I now know Google Earth had nothing to do with it.

The video above is straight out of “How It’s Made” and has solved my childhood bewilderment of the making of a globe. Now I can obsess over other things like sperm powered nanobots.

First Water, Now Snow? Go Figure

The Phoenix Lander is still hard at work discovering various hints of life on Mars. NASA had originally believed there was ice on Mars, but weren’t able to prove it at the time. Then, NASA found water.  Now, Philip Christensen, the principal investigator for the Mars Odyssey THEMIS camera system and a professor from Arizona State University says melting snow in Martian craters may have created a system of gullies that have potentially formed life.

“I think we have discovered remnants of snow packs on Mars that in the recent past have melted,” says Christensen. “I think if you were to land on one of those and stick a shovel in the ground, you’d be shoveling snow. And if life ever existed on Mars, I can’t think of a more exciting place to possibly go and look.”

Mars is a cold place, but just because it’s as cold as a witches tit doesn’t mean it can’t sustain lifeforms. After all, there are organisms on Earth that can withstand the temperature of Mars. Is mankind ready to take that giant leap into the final frontier and colonize a planet? Probably not. Regardless, Mars is proving itself to be the perfect candidate and has been proving it for quite some time.

This Watch Costs More Than My Life

These days, watches aren’t confusing enough. We’ve got the Caterpillar watch, which rotates around your wrist while displaying the appropriate time. Weird, but not confusing. Then there are watches which display time in binary. Dorky, but not confusing. I’m looking for a watch that is as confusing as it is expensive. The kind of watch I wouldn’t trade any sports car in the world for the confusion it brings upon me whenever I refer to it for time.

Enter the Hysek “Colosso” wrist watch. This convoluted mess of small parts and pieces features a three dimensional globe at the top which is used as a visual display which can be set on either local or GMT time.  For $550,000, you can either put your kids through college or get a watch. Your choice.

Lotus Eco Elise Eats Grass, Shits Flowers

The Lotus Elise is a car known for its light weight and unique design. Now, those are all preliminary factors with the Eco Elise.   Everything about this car circles around saving the world one step at a time. Water-based paint job? Check. Hemp, I repeat: Hemp interior? Check. Solar panels? Check. What the fuck does this car not have that’s thinking about the environment? I got it! An engine that doesn’t run on fossil fuel.

So, regardless of the gasoline powered engine (with or without a fuel efficiency button), this car is stacked  with planet saving gear. To top it all off, it’s 70 pounds lighter than the normal Lotus Elise.  Who cares? It has an interior made of hemp. I want one.
