iPhone Rumor Roundup

iphone_videorecording

Personally, I’m happy with my iPhone 3G (though I am excited for the iPhone 3.0 OS) and WWDC isn’t too big of a deal to me. But to others, WWDC is everything. New hardware, new software – it’s a true nerd dream. Here’s what everyone is saying about the pending iPhone announcements:

Remember: Don’t believe the hype. It usually will just end up letting you down.

ZuneHD Pictures Surface

zunehd2

You like that? Two Microsoft products in one title. Boo yah!

Here are some new pictures that are supposedly of the ZuneHD. While they are plausible, the quality is such shit that I can’t help but think they’ve been Photoshopped. Here’s the “rumored details” or whatever bullshit you want say will come with this unconfirmed device:

The ZuneHD will have a capacitive, multi-touch OLED screen with a 16:9 aspect ratio and TV out, from what looks to be a HDMI port on the side. The radio will now be HD and the device will support HD media playback, which will be available from the updated Zune Marketplace.

The ZuneHD will also support 3D Xbox games, but it is unclear what form this will take.

The device will come in 16 and 32 GB versions, and will support wireless sync. It will also finally come with a browser that supports multi-touch.

Mmmhmm. Right. “3D Xbox games” sounds dead on. Will it come with a built-in tequila dispenser too? Hey, when a product isn’t real, you might as well make up any goddamned thing you please.

Polaroid Mirror

colinhimself

While Polaroid film is a dying medium, you can keep the memories going with this mirror that’s shaped like a Polaroid picture. No shaking required; just hold it up and admire how handsome you look, just like this guy. Better yet, take it with you on a date, drop it on the floor to look up your date’s skirt and you’ll have memories that will stay with you forever. Don’t tell them you heard about the idea on Gearfuse though, or they might smash your mirror and you’ll be out $29. No dice.

Google Latitude Replacing Dodgeball?

googlelat

The oft-troubled Dodgeball service is on its way out at Google but that won’t keep the company from innovating new products. Case in point: Latitude. Google Latitude is a new location-based social networking experience. You install a widget to your iGoogle page if you’re on a computer and mobile users can directly access the Latitude website. Users can see other friends’ location, update their status message (just like Facebook) and it’s all in real-time!

Privacy issues will no doubt keep some from using the Latitude service, but Google says you’ll be able to completely control your privacy. Latitude is supposed to work as of right now, but I just tried to use it on my iPhone 3G and it still says “Coming Soon” after I click the link in SMS that Google sent me. Oh well. Perhaps Google is busy working on more important things.

Boardwalk Photos Without The Boardwalk

Go into your parent’s attic and you’ll find a box. Open it up. Inside are your childhood memories. Snocones, funnel cake – these were the times. Ah, yes. That four-shot series of photographs from the boardwalk photo booth. How grand! Wouldn’t it be great if you could relive those times? Now ya can, champ.

This authentic boardwalk photo booth from Hammacher Schlemmer costs $11,000 but the memories it will produce are priceless. Have an orgy in there and blackmail the other chick on Facebook with the resulting pictures. Hilarious! It only takes 16 seconds to print out a four-frame strip of photos and it come with enough film for 3200 pictures.

Iomo Split Camera

Anyone with a Mac knows how much fun Photo Booth can be. Distort your face with your friend, get a good laugh and throw it up on Facebook. But what if you went on a vacation and wanted to bring the fun of Photo Booth with you without the need for a laptop?

Enter the Iomo Split Cam. This camera will let you block light from hitting the upper or lower portion of your photo. This means you can take a picture of your friend, block out their head and add in a statue’s head for good times. It’s a simple gimmick that will bring a lot of fun to your photos and for $20, you’d be insane to pass this camera up. Check out the Flickr gallery of Split Cam photos to get an idea of what this camera can do.

Hello Nurse! Art Or Photography? We Don’t Care

Take a look at the image above. Is it a photograph or is it a painting?

It’s actually an oil painting influenced by the aesthetic of black and white photography created by Adam Stennett. I’ve got no idea how he makes these images look so life-like, especially the water running down this lady’s crack. Hubba hubba. All I know is: I like.

Watchmen Closeups

Despite the ongoing legal battle between 20th Century FOX and Warner Bros. over Watchmen rights, Warner is still flinging press material left and right. Found in some Brazillian publication called SET, there’s four new close-ups of characters from the movie. Rorschach, Dr. Manhattan, The Comedian and the chick who’s fucking Night Owl (sorry, I just finished reading it and already forget half the book) all make an appearance that really gets me hyped for the 2009 release of the movie.
