Real-Life Transformer Robot Turns Into Motorcycle

OMFG. I was sure this day would never come. And now that it’s here I’m not sure whether I should be thrilled or if I should prepare the construction of my robot world domination safety shelter.

As you can see, the Norton Commando Transformer robot by Steve Twist is a full-on real life Transformer. In only seconds, the coughing Norton bot becomes a functioning motorcycle. You’ve gotta watch the video to believe it.

It’s called the Suzuki Biplane (although it looks a hell of a lot more like a jet) and it’s powered by at V4 engine–that much we know. But other than that, information is scarce regarding this cool looking concept cycle. Still, I would imagine that the look is the really important thing here. And let me tell you, if I’m going to be bucked over the handlebars of a crotch rocket I bought to compensate for a mid-life crisis, I would want it to be something that looked like this.

Hopefully we will know more about the Biplane when it makes it’s debut at the 40th Tokyo Motor Show later this month.—Sean Fallon

What’s so unusual about making a car, you ask? Well, up until now, KTM has only made motorcycles, and their first attempt at a car, called the X-Bow, looks like it was built from motorcycle parts. Weighing in at a mere 700kg (1,540lbs.) with 220 or 300PS (Pferdestärken, German for Horsepower), the KTM X-Bow is a real land-rocket. It features a carbon monocoque with no doors or roof, and will debut at the Geneva motor show in March 2007.
