There Was An Old Woman Who Bathed In a Shoe

shoebath1

I can understand poverty. I’m a two-bit blogger who lives in public housing. But what I can’t understand is why a woman with so many children that she apparently “didn’t know what to do” with all of them, would live in a damn shoe. Couldn’t she find something that was a little less likely to cause her children to get athlete’s foot on their face?

As usual, I digress. The Shoe Bathtub, designed by SICIS, is pretty much where you’d imagine that same old woman would live if she happened to be a water-borne protozoa. This is the sort of bath that just screams tact and class. That is, if you happen to live on Sex and the City Island. More vomit-inducing glitz after the jump.

Rubik’s Cube Mosaics – Hot

I’m crazy for mosaics. Who would’ve thought you could compound various unrelated colors together and display a picture of Spock. It’s mind boggling. Do you know what’s even more mind boggling? Mosaics made up of scrambled Rubik’s cubes.

No new Rubik’s cubes here, this mosaic is made up completely of the classic Rubik’s cube you know and hate. It’s less frustrating and much more appealing.

LEGO Mosaics Found On Etsy

I’m all about Spock. Which is the main reason why I was attracted to these LEGO mosaics. They come in many different flavors including Star Wars, Mad magazine’s Alfred E. Neuman and even Adam West as Batman. Etsy member Motion5 sells these works of art for prices ranging from $50 to $400.

He also takes high resolution shots of his work that any idiot with half a brain could duplicate. Don’t get me wrong, the art is impressive but these screenshots are so detailed that I have the schematics for the art right in front of me. Hell, I could probably make one in Bricksmith.

4464 Glass Vials = Sunny Day

People must get really bored over in Stockholm. I mean, how else could artist Aleksandra Stratimirovic fill up 4464 small glass vials with different colored liquids? To do that would take at least a month, unless you had mechanical help. Well, somehow Alek pulled it off, arranged them and lit ‘em up with a fluorescent light. The result? “Sunny Day.”

One could argue it’s not amazing and that it’s just your standard mosaic on a different medium. However, this chick he designed looks like a hottie, so I think I’m going to let it slide this very once. I wonder if any of these vials have GH-anyways, hit the jump for the full image in all its glory.

Guy Re-creates Van Gogh Painting With Cigarette Boxes

skull1

This re-creation of Van Gogh’s “Skull with a Burning Cigarette” was made entirely of cigarette packs. If you look very closely, you’ll see the painting resembles a mosaic and is filled with packs of Winston, Camel, and Marlboro cigarettes. How appropriate, unlike some other works of art we know of, this is true dedicated. Cancer sticks at their best if you ask me.

After the jump, you’ll be able to see some close up shots and what brands of smokes are in there.

Star Trek Bead And Thread Mosaics Make Every Deck A Holodeck

startrek1.jpg

A classic line from Star Trek is “Beam me up, Scotti.” Using only colored beads and thread, avid Star Trek fan Devorah Sperber recreated the beaming up look, starring the one and only Captain Kirk, with William Shatner goodness.

Sperber also uses her talent with beading to recreate the Star Trek Holodeck, a great entrance for your Star Trek Entertainment Center, as well as a full wall mosaic of the Enterprise deck to showcase next to Spock’s Spacesuit. To see more of her creations, hit the jump. (more…)
