Solution For Gamers Who Lack Skill

If you really suck at video games or you’re just a no good untrustworthy cheating sonofabitch, then the AcidMods Spit-Fire Controller was made just for you. This Xbox 360 controller mod has two special function buttons which are fully programmable that will give your pudgy fingers an edge against competition that is clearly superior to you in Call Of Duty 4.

Demonstrated in the video are some of the macros that can be assigned to the all new back buttons installed on the controller.  A button in the center of the controller can remap the keys and change their macros.  Shown here we have the player being able to rapidly fire his pistol, as if he was using a turbo button. Cool mod, but will it be cool after it gets you banned from Xbox Live?  Sure it will! They can’t ban ya from a single-player campaign. In your face, Microsoft!

DIY: Game Boy Floppy Drive

Have you ever wanted to add a floppy drive to your Nintendo Game Boy in order to read ROM files for all of your games? Neither have I, considering you can just download an emulator. Regardless, a French author has posted everything (even circuit diagrams) you’ll need to turn your portable gaming system into a cumbersome mess of wires. Sure, no one uses diskettes anymore but the dedication this author has put into this hack instead of just going out and buying a flash device is note worthy.

Kudos to France.

Trick Out Your Homer Simpson Clock

It’s no mystery that Homer Simpson is a portrait of manliness worldwide. That’s why Tony Sambuchi has taken it upon himself to turn this store-bought talking Homer Simpson clock into something more.  After stripping the clock of its innards, Sambuchi manages to get the clock to play Homer’s voice through his sound system every hour and he turns the clock into a light show as well. Bravo.

While not the coolest homage to the Simpsons, this DIY clock mod is sure to make every hardcore Simpsons fan’s mouth water.

Dual Exhaust Flame Thrower Kit For the Spy Hunter In You

Here’s an extremely awesome DIY kit for the exhaust system on your car.  Shoot up to 20 feet of flame right out of the tailpipe with the push of a button. Is this even legal? Arsonists everywhere would be drooling if it was legal. Tailgaters will surely learn their lesson from tailing someone with one of these installed. Getting away from the feds after you just pulled a bank heist will never be easier, but shooting flames out the rear-end of your car could help. Of course, it’ll just melt your trunk.

Out Of The Sewers and Into The Gaming Den

gator case mod

I’m a huge fan of Crocodile Dundee and Leatherhead was by far my favorite villain from T.M.N.T.. I can appreciate the time and effort this gamer has put into this case mod but nothing screams “geek” more than spending that much time to put some ‘bling’ on your 360, well maybe except for this awkwardly-designed computer.

The alligator-themed Xbox 360 is covered with reptilian skin and even has a creepy eye instead of the standard 360 power switch. With all the sweat poured into this 360, it’d be a real shame for him to get the red ring of death. Of course, it’d just make the alligator eye look almost as cool as a portable Atari 2600, except you wouldn’t be able to play it.

NES Coffee Table Stores Your Games, Controls Your Console

The NES controller is just a classic example of iconic gaming culture being hacked and modded into oblivion. So many awesome projects have integrated the Nintendo controller design that it’s almost becoming a cliché. I said almost.

The NES Coffee Table is among some of the most awesome mods we’ve ever seen and we’ve seen some doozies. Not only is the controller design actually able to be used as a controller during game play, but provides excellent space for storing away all of your gaming crap. Hit the jump for more pics and an awesome video. (more…)

Ugliest Nintendo DS Mods - EVER!

These Nintendo DS design mods more closely resemble a knick knack you’d find gathering dust in your grandmother’s attic than a gaming console. If the people over at King Deco were itching to create the “least likely to be used” gaming consoles, they have succeeded with full honors!

In order to rock these hideous creations, you have to ship your own personal DS to King Deco and trust these people handling your precious console. Supposedly, they actually charge to have this done. I mean, come on!

The first one I could live with. Now as far as the other three monstrosities? *shudder*

Playing SNES Super Mario Cart On A High-End Motion Simulator

Playing racing games can sometimes be pretty one-dimensional, especially on a 16-bit gaming console. This was a time when there were no vibrating gaming controllers, so racing was just about as real as walking with your hands reaching out in front of you, grasping on to an imaginary wheel.

But if you could take the SNES system playing Super Mario Kart, and modify it so that a high-end motion simulator can recreate engine vibrations, pavement texture and high frequency suspension vibration, you have a much more interesting experience on your hands. Check out the video above to see the experience.

NES Controller Car Engine Mod: Just Another Attempt At Geek Cred

Filed under: DIYs, Gaming, Hacks, Transportation

You might have your car’s interior and sound system down as far as geeky prowess goes, but what lurks under the hood? A standard engine just won’t do for my fellow car modding comrades, oh no! We need more! Better! Geekier!

The owner of this car is such a huge fan of the NES console, that he modded a NES controller design right into the very innards of his VVT-i 16 Valve engine. Blasting away at all cylinders, this modded Toyota deserves some serious respect. Hit the jump for a close-up. (more…)

Geekify Your Car’s Audio System

carstereoforgeeksthumbnly3.jpg

If you sit around, rummaging through the internet all day, odds are that, like me, you can’t afford a sound system in your car which you can be proud of. Not that I listen to tunes with thumping bass anyway (don’t listen to him, yeah he does), but at least I can support my geeky ego with a self-modified system.

You see what this clever auto geek did here? Instead of some flashy amp system, he’s built-in a PC’s CD-ROM drive into the car’s dashboard, complete with sponge shock protection. So technically, his car has one up on the MacBook Air. — Andrew Dobrow
