I Broke My Thumb On My New Concrete Fingerboard Skate Park

The next time your son begs you for a fingerboard skate park, try not to laugh in his face. Instead, be more considerate. Perhaps his new hobby will eventually lead to him going pro and becoming sponsored and thus earning him a living doing what he loves.

Of course, you don’t want to settle for the cheap plastic junk Tech Deck sells, so Peter Thomsen of Instructables demonstrates step-by-step how to make a concrete fingerboard skate park. Your kid will be the talk of the town. That is, if he possesses the strength to carry this thing around with him.

It’s Peanut Butter Time, No Jelly

If you’re wondering how George Washington Carver discovered three hundred uses for peanuts, you’re wasting your time. Everyone knows there is only one use for peanuts and that’s the creation of delicious peanut butter. By the end of the month, this peanut butter machine will be available for you to crush up your favorite shell nuts into creamy rich nut butter.  Mmm – nut butter. Who knows how many double-ended jars you could fill with an endless supply of homemade nut butter and with your MacGyver-skills, you could come up with some interesting blends of nuts.

You could open your own shop that sells custom nut butter and if the name hasn’t already been taken, you could call your store, “Totally Nuts For Nut Butter”.  You might be thinking, is $50 dollars a decent price for a peanut butter machine? Are you fucking kidding me? I’d put my house on a second mortgage to get a hold of one of these!

8tracks.com Reviewed

As we mentioned yesterday, the online music service Muxtape shut down. While this is yet another lame move by the RIAA, I’ve found I don’t miss Muxtape. It was really just too basic of a service for me to get into it or hyped up about it. Plus, having to upload one track at a time really sucked. So with Muxtape gone, I decided to give 8tracks.com a go.

Sign up is easy. Very straightforward stuff. The interface is much cleaner and reminds me of the old version of Last.fm. Anyways, you login and create a mix. This mix contains 8 tracks, all of which will not be revealed unless a listener listens to your mix all the way through. You can upload all your tracks at once (in a queue) and go make a sandwich while they upload. Once that’s done, just drag your tracks to the mix and figure out an order. Create your mix and you’re good to go!

The Tin Can That Shoots Fire!

b-chapek_getting_booze_540x359.JPG

The big buzz this week at the Roboexotica event in San Francisco are robots that mix drinks. Specifically, a robot dubbed “Chapek” is capable of making a small variety of mixed drinks: gin and orange juice (laid back), a gin martini, a vodka martini and a screwdriver. Hilarity ensued during a press run when Chapek spills a screwdriver all over himself and his circuitry.

Other robots that can be seen at Roboexotica include: a mind reading martini maker, which measures the alpha waves in ones brain to determine how dry the martini should be, as well as a robot that has the ability to flip cigarettes into peoples mouths. Awesome. Robotic cancer rules!
