Bloody Bookmarks

I wonder what my grandmother would think of me if I got her these creative $29 bookmarks for her birthday. The set of three comes with bookmarks that resemble milk, blood and mercury. While the milk is cute, I’m sure the blood would earn me a disapproving glare from her reading chair.

If you’re one of those people who relies heavily on a craft cup of coffee each morning, you’ll find this chart very helpful. It shows you how to make different drinks involving espresso. Activision Considers Monthly Subscription Service For Guitar Hero

That’s right, you read correctly: Activision is considering a subscription service to deliver monthly releases of fresh songs for Guitar Hero players.

Activision Publishing CEO Mike Griffith explained:

Looking even further out, we’re exploring new models, like an annual pass subscription where players can subscribe and get a certain number of songs downloadable each month.

As of now, no specific details regarding the subscription information or potential tracks for download has been released. However, Activision is sure that this subscription service will be successful because there is no better time to milk the franchise while it’s still fresh in everyones brains. All Guitar Hero fans want is more songs and nothing more.

Chandelier Milk Crates Put You In The Mooood

Check it: a chandelier made up of milk crates. You thought kitchen lights made up of cereal box designs showed off how much you truly love breakfast? Think again. This milk crate chandelier is the first kind we’ve seen and it appears some effort went into making it. And no, this wasn’t some 20 minute project like a chandelier made up of CDs. Time and hard work was invested into this thing and the final project is surprisingly as visually stunning as milk crates hanging from your ceiling could ever possibly look. Nice job, DIY Maven.

Milkscanner Does Exactly What You’re Thinking

I don’t know how Friedrich Kirschner pulled this stunt off but it’s one of the best DIYs I’ve seen in a long time. He essentially constructed a 3-D scanner out of LEGOs, a webcam and milk. Watching the above video, you can see how Friedrich places a figurine into a vat of milk. A picture is taken and a spoonful of milk is added to the vat. The process is repeated until the object is fully submerged in milk.

Once that’s done, the object can be imported into a 3-D software program like Blender for manipulation. It’s pretty amazing stuff and allows for total three-dimensional scanning. Right now, the process can only be done with Windows. Keep your eyes peeled though as a cross-platform version of the software could be heading to OS X and Linux very soon.
