mlb_at_bat_iphone_app

With the iPhone 3.0 OS officially dropping today (though some of us have had ours for a week and have since hacked it for tethering!), MLB.com is pulling all punches with its new iPhone App, At Bat. While the app itself isn’t new, the 3.0 update will give owners the chance to stream live baseball games at no additional cost. The first game to be streamed will be tomorrows Sox vs Cubs matchup at 2:20pm. For $10, you seriously can’t beat this deal.

xbox360logo1

Like it or not, Microsoft has managed to dominate the console market in just a few years. The company just announced that it has sold over 30 million Xbox 360s around the world. In addition to that impressive number, Microsoft has 20 million Xbox Live subscribers. By comparison, Activision-Blizzard’s World of Warcraft has around 12 million. Talk about a cash cow.

Coldplay Giving Away New Live Album

coldplay-leftrightleftrightleft

Say what you will but some people, myself included, happen to like Coldplay. If it weren’t for us fans, why else would the band decide to give away its new live CD “Left Right Left Right Left.” You can get a CD version for free at their concerts or you can download the entire album on Coldplay’s official website. Music is great but it’s even better when it’s free.

Groove On This, Hippie: Free Phish Downloads

phish

Some of us at Gearfuse enjoy the jam band Phish. Others hate them, but no one can deny their almost cult-like status as musicians. Considering their reunion shows for 2009 sold out in minutes, Phish didn’t want to leave the rest of their fans hanging around with no jam to groove on. The band has announced plans to make digital downloads of each show available on their website for a limited time. They say the best things in life are free and this is no exception my friends. Get the MP3s while they’re still drenched in sweat and acid.

New Xbox 360 Bundles For The Holidays

Next month, Microsoft will be totally reshaping the Xbox Live experience. While this is fine and dandy, Microsoft is really looking to get the Xbox 360 into the hands of every teenager on the planet this Black Friday and holiday season. Next up on the checklist is to offer customers free games. Buy the $199 360 Arcade and you’ll get 6 games for free (as you can see in the above image.) Those of you picking up a Pro or Elite version will be treated to LEGO Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda. Not too shabby. It’s also worth mentioning that everyone will score a Netflix trial as well with their system. Schweet!

Berny Morson Is A Negligent Douche

It doesn’t get much worse than a virtual funeral of a fellow player in World Of Warcraft but that situation has just been one-upped. For some bizarre reason, Rocky Mountain News thought it’d be productive to live blog the funeral today of Marten Kudlis, the 3-year old boy killed at an ice cream store last week.

So, the reporter hopped on Twitter and kept the Internet updated with step by step coverage of the boy’s funeral ceremony. Tragically, the boy was killed last Thursday when Francis Hernandez, an illegal immigrant, crashed into a Baskin Robbins store in Aurora where the boy was waiting to get ice cream. Depressing, almost as depressing as this reporter’s Twitter updates:

Movie Set or Art?

As part of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture celebrations, the French company La Machine created this 50 foot monstrosity and called it art, when in actuality it is a movie prop from Eight Legged Freaks that none of the cast wanted to take home.

The installation cost £1.8million to bring to Liverpool – and all but £250,000 of this was funded by the taxpayer.

Man, if I lived in Liverpool (I’m glad I don’t because I hear they’ve got a spider problem these days), I’d be glad to know my tax dollars are being put to good use creating robot spiders that roam the streets.  The worst part about this entire thing is that, in the name of art, La Machine is turning this into some kind of weird city-wide LARP. That’s live action role play.  After some phony story about this mechanical spider was written, the citizens of Liverpool still approve and want to go along for the ride.
