New Xbox 360 Bundles For The Holidays

Next month, Microsoft will be totally reshaping the Xbox Live experience. While this is fine and dandy, Microsoft is really looking to get the Xbox 360 into the hands of every teenager on the planet this Black Friday and holiday season. Next up on the checklist is to offer customers free games. Buy the $199 360 Arcade and you’ll get 6 games for free (as you can see in the above image.) Those of you picking up a Pro or Elite version will be treated to LEGO Indiana Jones and Kung Fu Panda. Not too shabby. It’s also worth mentioning that everyone will score a Netflix trial as well with their system. Schweet!

Berny Morson Is A Negligent Douche

It doesn’t get much worse than a virtual funeral of a fellow player in World Of Warcraft but that situation has just been one-upped. For some bizarre reason, Rocky Mountain News thought it’d be productive to live blog the funeral today of Marten Kudlis, the 3-year old boy killed at an ice cream store last week.

So, the reporter hopped on Twitter and kept the Internet updated with step by step coverage of the boy’s funeral ceremony. Tragically, the boy was killed last Thursday when Francis Hernandez, an illegal immigrant, crashed into a Baskin Robbins store in Aurora where the boy was waiting to get ice cream. Depressing, almost as depressing as this reporter’s Twitter updates:

Just a quick tip for those of you out there in need of an Xbox 360. You may want to consider hitting up the infamous Circuit City for your console, as the big box retailer seems to be feeling more generous as of late. For each Xbox 360 you pick up post price-cut, you’ll get a card worth 1600 Microsoft Points to go along with it. They’ll also give you a $10 gift card and a free t-shirt if you pick up GRAW 2 and a bunch of titles are selling for $15. Not too shabby. Now let’s wait and see what Best Buy’s next Sunday ad says.

Movie Set or Art?

As part of Liverpool’s Capital of Culture celebrations, the French company La Machine created this 50 foot monstrosity and called it art, when in actuality it is a movie prop from Eight Legged Freaks that none of the cast wanted to take home.

The installation cost £1.8million to bring to Liverpool – and all but £250,000 of this was funded by the taxpayer.

Man, if I lived in Liverpool (I’m glad I don’t because I hear they’ve got a spider problem these days), I’d be glad to know my tax dollars are being put to good use creating robot spiders that roam the streets.  The worst part about this entire thing is that, in the name of art, La Machine is turning this into some kind of weird city-wide LARP. That’s live action role play.  After some phony story about this mechanical spider was written, the citizens of Liverpool still approve and want to go along for the ride.

Abelincoln Live Sampler

Filed under: DIYs, Hacks, Misc. Gadgets, Videos

You absolutely have to check out the above video with audio on. The crude device is called the Abelincoln Live, which is surely a pun on the popular sequencing software Ableton Live. It’s a sampler, so you can do a lot of fun, noisy things with it. Utilizing three voice recorder units and a passive 3-channel mixer, Abelincoln has plenty of ways to let you mod your recording.

While the rest of the details are extremely intricate, anyone who can solder and assemble the parts should be able to make their very own Abelincoln. Now all you need is a bag of shrooms to make your music worth listening to.

Problem: Richard Gaywood has an Xbox Live Account with the username “RichardGaywood.” This is a legitimate use of a gamertag. Microsoft gets a complaint about Dick Gaywood’s name and his handle is removed.

Solution: Your name is Dick Gaywood, dude. I really suggest getting your name changed.

appletvdvr-lg.gif

Well, how about this for a twist in the DVR tale. A new patent filing hints that Apple could be planning to bring a Live TV recording feature to their Apple TV.

Not only will Apple TV users be able to browse and record live TV programming, but they’ll be able to watch their downloaded movies and TV programs purchased from iTunes. TiVo betta’ watch themselves. Apple is ready for a telemedia revolution. — Andrew Dobrow
