Super Mario and Legend of Zelda Bowling Pins are Hideously Rad

gaming-bowling-pins1

When I was a kid I had my birthday at a bowling alley, like, 3 times. I was just that awesome. But if the bowling pins looked like this, I’d still be having my birthday parties there. These custom painted gaming bowling pins are equal part ugly and geek.

Mario might look like a pedophile and Link like a deranged serial killer, but hey, this is the closest you’re likely going to get to a full set of geeky bowling pins. Embrace the hideousness.

Hand-Knit Zelda Baby Clothes

outfit

Some lucky mother and baby is about to get the coolest damn baby shower gift of all-time. This hand-knit Legend of Zelda-themed Link baby outfit, complete with baby bottle quiver, is an amazing example of what an expert needle worker can do.

This is exactly why I’m learning how to crochet, despite the incessant bullying. I’m about to kidnap some knitting granny, lock her up in a crate, and force her to make me an adult-sized version. She’ll get some cottage cheese and apple sauce if she’s lucky.

Legend of Zelda Nail Design

Anyone can waltz down to the local strip mall, pay $20 and get a set of fake, ugly acrylic nails slapped on their hands. But if you have class and skill, the right thing to do would be to paint on your own design. Take for instance Happylod3’s Legend of Zelda inspired fingernails. She painted the Triforce, the ocarina, the Master Sword, the symbol of the Sheikah and of course, a rupee. I think the results look great and am surprised at the amount of detail in such a little drawing.

Cross Stitchin’: Zelda Edition

This guy is a fucking genius. Servotron, the man behind the tapestry, is a cross stitching genius who has recreated the entire world map of the SNES classic The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past out of whatever it is you stitch with. Very cool, but if you thought this was badass, wait until after the jump…

8-Bit NES Games Go 3-D

Japanese design firm Tibori Design reimagined several classic Nintendo games in 3-D form. Titles include but aren’t limited to The Legend of Zelda, Excitebike and Super Mario Brothers. My personal favorite is Cut Man from the Mega Man series. He just looks so…right.

Ocarina iPhone App Unleashes Your Inner Jethro Tull

Now here’s an iPhone application worth plunking down 99 cents for. It’s an Ocarina app that lets you play notes like a traditional ocarina by allowing you to hold down valves on the screen and blowing into the microphone. Sounds pretty creative. The best part is that it comes with a Legend of Zelda mode that turns it into, well, an Ocarina of Time. It’s amazing how video games transcend reality, isn’t it?
