Konami Brings Silent Scope To The iPhone

ss2

Miss the days of 2000 when you spent the summer at a boardwalk arcade, endlessly dropping quarters into Silent Scope and King of Fighters ‘99? I do. Lucky for me, Konami feels my pain and is bringing the classic sniper rifle shooter to the iPhone. Says Konami VP of Mobile and Online:

“With the release of Silent Scope on the iPhone and iPod touch, we’re substantiating our commitment to developing quality content that takes our top franchise titles and turns them into an on-the-go gaming experience,” said Anthony Borquez, Vice President of Konami Mobile and Online. “Silent Scope allows players to conceal their firearms and perfect their sharpshooting skills wherever they go.”

Never really considered Silent Scope a “top franchise title” but hey, to each his or her own.

Metal Gear Solid Touch Coming To iPhone Next Week

mgs_touch2jpg

Solid Snake is gearing up for battle. He’s gotta head out for battle come next Thursday, March 19th as that’s the date Konami has set for the release of Metal Gear Solid Touch. You’ll be able to tap your way through scores of enemies and conduct tactical espionage action using only your middle finger.

Expect it to come with a $9.99 price tag here in the US. While it’s a bit expensive, the game will most likely be one of the best-looking iPhone/iPod Touch games available in the App Store; pending approval, of course.

Use the Konami Code on Google

Are you that guy who needed 30 lives to beat the original Contra? We know you and so does Google apparently. Google has taken your favorite cheat code of all time (you sly bastard) and integrated it into Google Apps.

To check out the Easter Egg, you’ll need to login to your Google account, bring up Google Reader (Ryan confirmed this) and chill for a second. After the chill, enter in the Konami Code (UUDDLRLRBA), kick back and watch.

Oh and no one could beat that fucking game without 30 lives, so don’t fret.

Guitar Hero Effect Pedal confirmed through 360 instructions

gh360_pedalport.jpg

Thanks to an early shipment of Guitar Hero II for Xbox 360, there’s now hard evidence to confirm that Guitar Hero is adding the use of an effect pedal to the game. A diagram of the guitar controller in the 360 instructions shows a plotted port for an effect pedal. Before you get your gaming panties in a knot, take warning that Konami has been known to add mysterious effect ports to music games in the past without anything to show for it, which they did for Beatmania III.

On the back of this instruction slip, the effect port is labled as still being unavailable for now, as can be seen by the lack of hardware. But Konami might just have something up their sleeves. — Andrew Dobrow

Gameboy Konami Code Tattoo…Ouch!

tatt_4

Interesting…yes. Yet so extremely painful looking. Spotted on the same site that brought us the extreme wristwatch piercing. Quite an extreme way to show your love for the old Konami game code on the Gameboy. The retro style original Gameboy sure does bring back some memories too. And such a cute little tummy! — Andrew Dobrow
