Talent Show Kit Provides More Fuel For Family Snorefest

Family night in my home usually meant a pizza dinner and a board game, but I’m sure other families would have more extravagant festivities, which possibly included nudity and chanting to Satan. While my family was never much for rituals, it would have been nice to have something like the Talent Show Kit.

It’s a karaoke machine, a mic, and an amplifier all built into one mic stand-esque gadget. A removable mic allows the performer some roaming space as they croon to the moon like a werewolf. Or at least that’s what it probably sounds like. Just hand them a fake and cheer when they stop moving. They’ll never know the difference. Get yours for $80. — Andrew Dobrow

“You’re Beautiful, Mac” sings some girl on YouTube

To be blunt (haha we too can make James Blunt puns), this video is purely agonizing. Not only do we HATE that damn song that was on the radio constantly for 6 months, but the woman’s voice (no offense because you’re pretty hot) leaves something to be desired.

I could see it starting as a good idea. A way to get more hits on YouTube. But what it turned into is something between a tribute song and a karaoke pop jam, which adds up to a really crappy cover of an even crappier song.

Even scarier is that her facial expressions are seemingly authentic as she shows her everlasting devotion to her Mac. — Andrew Dobrow

iKaraoké for iPod annoys more people

ipod ikaraokeThis is the Christmas gift that you need to pray no one buys for your children. Griffin, one of the many makers of iPod accessories, has released a karaoke plugin for your iPod. It comes with software for your iPod and a microphone that plugs directly into your iPods port and allows anyone to think they are Cher or Madonna (when they sound nothing like them). As a complement, it is very basic and minimal, and as a result, blends well with the iPod’s look and design. Another cool little feature is that it allows you to kill the vocals off of your favorite pop songs so that you can sing in their place. Griffin is selling the iKaraoke for $50 on their online store just in case you can’t find it in your local electronic store.
