Stick That iPod Where The Sun Don’t Shine!

I don’t own an iPod Shuffle and at this point, I should really get one for jogging and riding my bike. I’d get an arm-band for my 30GB 5G iPod but let’s get real and agree that they’re retarded-looking. You could even say they make you look “full retard.”  So with those options out, what’s a guy to do?

Try iStik. Stupid name, great idea - unless you’re wearing a pacemaker. Using neodymium magnets and a plastic casing, you essentially slide the magnets under your shirt and place the case on the outside. Opposites attract and presto - you’ve got yourself a wearable iPod case. Right now, iStik is available for the iPod Nano for $25, so I’ll leave it up to you to decide if it’s worth the cash. For $25 more, you can score a Shuffle!

Limited Edition: X-Files iPods Discover Earth

Looks like FOX has gone custom iPod crazy as of late. First, there was a custom Simpsons iPod offering from the company. Now, you can believe that Gillian Anderson’s breasts are real (and watch videos!) with this X-Files themed iPod. Created for ultra-fanboys like myself who worshiped both Mulder and Scully, these new designs are available courtesy of FOX.

An 80GB version of the iPod Classic will set you back $329 and features an old-school shot of the logo with Mulder and Scully. There’s also a black $269 8GB iPod Nano with a silhouette of the two agents walking down a field. Like I said, anyone who remembers classics like “Humbug” and “Paper Hearts” will surely pick one up. At these prices, you’d better believe.

Limited Edition 90210 iPod Nano

Look, I know Kevin, Brenda and Dylan are coming over tonight with a bottle of vodka they got a college kid to buy, but seriously guys, if I get caught having one more party, I’m boogered! We’re going to need some tunes for this jammin’ event, so make sure you bring your favorite mixtape, Dylan. Me? Oh, I have this sweet 90210 iPod Nano. I know, right? It has pictures of us all over it, limited edition artwork and only 2000 were available from CBS. Luckily, my dad, who’s a lawyer, was able to get me one. Said it only ran him around $270. Anyways, no matter. It won’t be invented for another 10 years or so. Let’s get drunk and crash our parent’s convertibles!

iPhone 2.0 Software Available

Looks like the Apple fanboy community couldn’t wait one more day for the release of the iPhone/iPod Touch 2.0 software. Someone found the .ipsw file of the iPhone 2.0 firmware on Apple’s servers and posted the link on MacRumors. With iTunes 7.7 available (I just updated), you can now update your iPhone to the new software. Have an iPod Touch? No dice.

In order to install it after you’ve downloaded you will have to hold the Option key when pressing the “Check for Update” button in iTunes. You will then select the file you’ve downloaded manually. I just did it and it was very simple.

Clicking “Link” below will download the .ipsw file directly from Apple’s servers. Be sure to do this kind of stuff at your own risk.

eWallet To Secure Finances For iPhone Users

Need a new reason to leave your wallet at home? eWallet, the software that serves as a password manager and digital wallet, has a version coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch. Word on the street is that the software is finished and ready to launch, awaiting the final word from Apple.

With the iPhone 3G within our grasps, the more software released for it, the better. When you already have an iPhone leaving a bulge in your pockets, you’ll do anything to avoid leaving imprints in your denim.

Don’t Throw Away That Busted iPod Just Yet

Who says busted technology can’t have a second chance? After her brother backed over his own iPod with a car, Crafster.org user Stefferroo posted this DIY project directly inspired by the Nintendo controller mouse. She magically turned a ruined iPod into a working mouse.

Don’t let the screen fool you, this MP3 player does not play music at all but the creator decided to put a fake picture to let everyone know what song she has stuck on repeat. It goes great with a Mac desktop and looks solid in comparison to many of the mice we’ve seen. Nice job, Stef!

NYC Resident Makes Gadget Repair House Calls

Broken gadgets suck, especially when it’s an iPod. All of a sudden you find yourself walking to the subway sans tunes. The train ride gets longer, sights become more boring and overall, the ride sucks. Luckily, there is hope.

If you live in NYC, give Demetrios Leontaris a call. This sly Greek will roll over to your pad to fix your iPod, Zune, Macbook or any other gadget that is acting up. He recently got a write-up in Fortune, so you know he’s legit and not trying to sell you a “sweet deal on DirecTV.”
