iPhone Application for Managing Your Electric Vehicle

iphone-nissan_app

Nissan is geared up to release a collection of EVs on August 2, but they also have a trick up their sleeve which other companies haven’t managed to pull quite yet. Nissan will also be releasing an iPhone application which will help drivers manage their electric vehicle.

The app will let the driver know how much power the EV has left in its reserves, even when they are away from the car. The app will also provide users with some key info, such as the nearest charging station and the estimated cost for the electrical charge.

A Robot with an iPhone for a Head

iphone-robot

Here is one bot that won’t be forced to sing “If I Only Had a Brain…” to any absent-minded wizard. The bo’ts head is composed of a fully-functioning iPhone 3GS, its body composed of a Kondo KHR-2HV bot. The iPhone connects to the body via a special dock.

Dubbed Robochan, the iPhone serves as the bot’s face and brain, simulating facial expressions and acting as a controller for the robot’s cute little dancing. Check out a video of this adorable little bugger after the jump.

DrinkTracker iPhone App Keeps Track of Your BAC

drinktracker

Well, this would have been nice to have known about this past Fourth of July weekend, wouldn’t it have been? The DrinkTracker iPhone application allows you to set a goal BAC while calculating an estimated current level based on what you’ve had to drink.

The DrinkTracker automatically compares your drink intake to your metabolic removal rate, calculating your BAC every 60 seconds. If it’s not 100% accurate, it at least provides a pretty smart estimate about where you stand if you’re not so good at keeping track of your liquor intake yourself. Wonder if it’ll ever have iBreath compatibility!

iPhone App BeautyMeter Pulled for Underage Jailbait Porn

jailbaitiphonenudity

By a show of hands, who loves porn? Don’t be ashamed! I don’t blame you if you’ve felt a little guilt over the past few weeks with the way Apple shuns the nude female form. But in this second case of porn removal (so far), we can at least see the legal sense.

Free iPhone app “BeautyMeter,” which was sort of like a modern version of “Hot or Not,” was pulled from the iTunes App Store shelves after teenage girls began bearing it all to bump up their ratings. Even if whoever posted these images wasn’t the actual nude girls in question and even if they happened to be 17 rather than 15, the law is the law. And jailbait is jailbait, no matter how sexy.

siriusxm4-200x300

Woohoo! Maybe now my shares of Sirius-XM will actually gain a little on this news. But yeah! Apple FINALLY released the Sirius-XM iPhone app today and it comes with a few surprises that subscribers will gladly welcome. The big kahuna is that you can stream satellite radio over 3G, turning your iPhone into the ultimate portable radio. It also sports an easy-to-use killer interface. Want to try it out? There’s a 7-day trial going down right now. Hop on it.

UPDATE: No Stern, MLB or NFL. Big mistake.

Hulu iPhone App in the Works; Release Planned In Next Few Months

hulu-iphone-app-088x088

Dance party time! This has been on the top of my application wish list as long as I can remember having one. According to an industry executive in the know, Hulu is developing a “badass” iPhone application which would allow users to watch video over both Wi-Fi and 3G connections.

While other video web applications have taken a stab at the iPhone application arena, such as Joost and TV.com, Hulu is totally set to blow them out of the water. Which really won’t be that challenging. Have you ever used Joost’s app? Yikes. The only question is will Apple approve an app which poses such competition to their iTunes video store? It sure could help sell more iPhones.
